SMALL Fish Attack GIANT Lures!

Have you caught striped bass on spook plugs? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
On a recent surfcasting trip, I tried out one of the most discussed lures of 2017, the Musky Mania 9" Doc.
Until this point, I had only caught larger fish on the Doc, but on this trip, schoolies striped bass were attacking this giant lure without a second thought!
No real studs this trip, but still had a good time and thought I would share a more "average" trip with all of you.
This lure is now a staple in my tackle box. It imitates a large baitfish, and it's action just begs to be hit. However, smaller fish don't shy away from it either! If a big bass is in the mood to hit a topwater plug, I have no doubt that it'll SMOKE this lure, however if only smaller fish are around, it'll catch them too. Certainly a lure I want to carry on a regular basis.

Does this lure work at night time in term of using it on shallow water to avoid getting snag?
By far one of my favorite spring time lures...the action is just insane

very nice, but how are you retriveing that spook plug on a 10' rod? most guys walk the dog from a elevated position standing from a boat with the rod tip pointed down. your standing in the water and holding the rod sideways?
So what size what the Zara Spook after you changed from the giant 9inch bone?
The Doc is a killer. Never seen a lure glide that far before.

What rod and reel are you running?

For the rod, I'm using a Century Stealth 10' 1-4oz and the reel is a Van Staal 200x. To be honest, I'm having durability issues with both the rod and reel which is a shame for gear that's marketed as "top of the line".
