Y'know, as a kid I would have hated to have known who the Stig was as I thought it would ruin the magic. But as an adult I absolutely love hearing all of Ben's insights and info. Great video. Please consider a part two with other locations.

The amphibious vehicle challenge was funny, but nothing will beat Clarkson driving a tower block Citroën in the sketchiest of conditions with May wheezing with laughter behind him

As a 32 year old man, “casually” watching a childhood icon of mine on a TV with a Stig tribute helmet next to it is mind blowing. I love how Ben is reminiscing and there is a glint in his eye when he speaks of his experiences during the show. Almost as if he is reliving them again. Wonderful video idea. Thank you Ben for living up to my childhood dreams.

I'd love to see the cliffs where Clarkson's Citroën grand designs went off. That always had me in stitches. "What's that?" Wonder if the crater is still there from the reliant Robin space shuttles impact.

Did you realize that the early Top Gear test with convertible cars (Copen, Beetle, CLK, A4, Pluriel) was filmed in Hammond's favourite place? The one he talks about in the video where he tells what he felt during coma after his dragster crash

@@MrSlowly63 as someone who lives over 6000 miles away, i do really adore the drives in those early episodes. the B roads are so quaint and pretty. little windy tracks that look fun. in my area, the high plains of the US, everything is flat and square and often 7 lanes wide.. my time stationed in germany made me loathe the road systems here, and i long for the little twisty tracks of europe. REAL driving in real, little, fun cars. main reason my daily driver is a mk3 golf vr6! small and fun

Great to see the locations, particularly the test track, all I have to say is sod the houses, that track has to stay. All those locations shout out the trios presence, and It’s a shame that the Clarkson, Hammond and May era of Top gear is no more but we have the re runs and DVDs to remember the iconic episodes.

I really love this video… I tend to forget how much life has gone by since our beloved trio helmed Top Gear. The significance of Top Gear to global car culture and the joy brought to countless viewers cannot be overstated. Seeing the relics abandoned in a rotting production trailer truly hurts my heart. I miss the excitement of seeing the guys return each season. Sending love to my automotive heroes from Missouri!

Please do this again!! I could watch this all day and I can’t wait to see the behind the scenes on the second channel

This was the best video you guys have ever done. I have been tracking Top Gear locations for years, with the hope that one day I’d be able to come there to drive around and visit some of them in person. It’s really cool to see how things have changed over the years, and that some of these memorable locations are still recognizable.

I have loved the show from day 1 over 20 years ago. I still watch reruns every single day. I’ve purchased Ben’s writings and have used him as inspiration for many things in my life. Ben may not have been the only “Stig” but for me, there is no other. He is one of the worlds greatest drivers. He drives the wheels off everything he sits in and that is talent! If by chance he ever sees these comments, I just have to say THANK YOU Ben. You are a legit hero of mine.

for me, there is one stig. and ben is it. a car lover, a teacher, and a downright fun fellow. that's how i want to think of the stig. i could care less who the others are. for me, it's ben collins all the way

I agree 100%; in retrospect, I wonder if at some point would have been even better to have Ben as Ben Collins on some top gear stunts/films, with a bit of an "stigesque" style, would have fitted right in with the three wise men. (in my opinion)

My family went on holiday to Cornwall a couple of years ago, and my brother and I visited the Southwinds Campsite where they stayed during the motorhome challenge.

I worked in the Vodafone store in Festival Place when they did the Fiesta vs Corvette chase. The floor was marked for months just outside our store. It was brilliant

I grew up surrounded by iconic Top Gear (and every other motoring show's!) roads, not for particular features but that everyone uses them constantly and have done for over 30 years! TG, Fifth Gear, Driven, Chris Harris on Cars, The Grand Tour, Evo and a plethora of TV shows. You lot were there filming Martin a few weeks ago even! There's a few different sections of road all within a 10 mile radius plus fields, woods and pubs that have all been used. Always feels odd looking at your local roads on the telly or YT!

as someone stuck in the flat high plains region of the US, im not jealous at all. nope. not at all. not wishing i could rip my H&R equipped VR6 golf around a few bends at speed without a pothole the size of a fiat 500..... nope.. not at all............ -silently weeps in the corner....-

I can see him pulling up to the security gate at the Top Gear track with an ID that just had the picture, and the name of, The Stig. I love that. I enjoyed this very much, thank you!

Ben couldn't figure out if he wanted to shoot vertical or horizontal. So he split the difference.

This was an excellent trip down memory lane, the only addition I could have hoped for would be short clips of the events you two were talking about at each location as it's been decades since we have seen some of them. I understand that Drivetribe is a separate entity and I'm not sure what if any relationship you currently have with the BBC so licensing may be an issue. Nonetheless, fantastic video and Ben is and always will be our Stig.

Excellent video, great seeing all the locations again. I think the company that helped with the car trains was called Aquarius and Ben saying it must have been a company that knew what they were doing, as that is what they do, build road rail vehicles - from Defenders, ford rangers, Isuzu Dmax’s etc

Such a shame about Dunsfold. They would hold the 'Wings and Wheels' airshow on the site in the past. Another airshow lost, along with Biggin Hill and Shoreham.

Fun Fact: The in-house Top Gear engineers did indeed do the majority of the work for the railway cars, if not all. The XJS had an adjustable camber mechanism on the rear axle that needed adjusting to stop derailing at junctions/points, but to achieve the higher speeds it needed a different camber.... It was adjusted with a cordless impact driver at the axles...whilst the car was moving and during filming...by someone hiding down inside the boot area...! That must have been a wild but scary experience 😂 🙌🔧

Ben is such a down to earth guy. for all that he is "known" for and still as humble as anyone. would definitely love to just listen to the stories he could tell and to get tips from him on driving what a dream that would be. anyway great episode as always. keep up the fun. One of the funniest episodes for me was when they did the "RV"s how James almost blew over, Richard going way above and beyond with the expandable, and May just trying not to crash while laughing while he was driving. so that spot where they camped would be a place for me to go. and if you could revisit the north pole that would be cool too.

Loving Ben's Dutch Angle shooting. 13/10. Funny enough that pool bit made me think, regarding equalisation, of those tiny scuba tanks, the ones colloquially called "Two breaths ..." tanks, those really are made for that sort of stunt, not something serious but something where that extra 30-60 seconds might make an impact. I had never seen the point of them until now.

I read Ben’s book a few years ago as I was just starting to drive and I loved it.

I do wonder what it would've been like if (along with Clarkson, Hammond and May) TopGear was sold to Amazon and the guys would've continued making the show there. If you guys could ever walk around Dunsfold properly (see what the location looks like today before it might be demolished?), that would be awesome. I don't live in the UK but if i would be in the UK (i don't know, maybe a road trip someday) that would definetly be a location i'd want to (try and) visit.

This was a great show. I would love to see more like this. Maybe even visit some of the big locations around the world from the specials. This was excellent though.

Next time you should visit Salisbury Plains (Range Rover vs Tank), Stanford Training Area (Boxster & SLK55 vs Army) and Pendine sands is quite iconic Top Gear.

Hit me straight in the nostalgia right off the bat with the tree! God it's hard to believe that was 20years ago...I was 12 😂 I still remember watching that at grandmas house
