Hammond & May try to play chess while downing shots
Ойын-сауық
Who wants to play normal chess when you can introduce some gin into the mix? The rules are simple - if you take a piece, you take a shot. Enjoy over an hour of Richard Hammond, James May, a chess board, and slightly too much alcohol…
Check out James May's Gin:

Well to be fair the gin and tonic is like it says gin AND tonic With some ice as well: the ice would dilute it so that helps and the tonic water helps with the taste of the gin as opposed to the NEAT gin ( meaning gin on its own) They were taking a shot of, no ice, no tonic, just gin ( Your average beer is ~4-6 percent abv ,alcohol by volume, Gin, however on average is ~37.5-50 abv ,abv can be summed up as the higher the number the stronger the drink ,given the fact they are drinking Asian parsnip normal strength ,as dictated via the colour of the label on the bottle, James's gin which is 40 percent) so imagine having to take a shot of 40 percent gin every time you take a piece, you'd get sloshed rather quickly. TLDR; their reactions to the drink are not as strong in the fish bowl because they put stuff in the drink to make the drink not as strong

The most incredible part is that James made a brilliant move on turn 26 according to stockfish (1:02:00)
*James looks away to ask a question* Hammond: "oh come back james" 😂😂😂 I love this
It's been years since top gear. I forgot how much I absolutely loved the witty antics between you two. Also Hammond procrastinating for 20 minutes was the most riveting part of the whole thing.
It’s fascinating that I’ve learned more about May and Hammond’s personalities and methods of thought in just over an hour then I have in twenty years of watching just about every show they’ve done many times over. They really are exceedingly funny. An hour and a half very well spent!

25 Minutes in at the moment, and Richard still seems to be adamant that James is some kind of grand master in disguise just waiting to pounce lol. These guys will live forever :)
Lol, that "prawn" for a pawns really was done on purpose because there's no way those two very smart men, especially someone pedantic like James didn't know better.

This was so refreshing. No music. Hardly any editing. Unscripted content. I wish the Grand Tour did more of this. The last few specials have been alight but they feel so over scripted with a monstrous budget going towards silly explosions and childish gags. The Grand Tour producers ought to realize that.
@aljones75
Жыл бұрын
Yes, totally agree. Gave up on The Grand Tour and I loved old Top Gear which also did get sillier and more scripted towards the end. It isn’t required to that level, their chemistry and interactions are more than enough. Wish they’d see that too. For example the Vietnam Special was probably the peak, there will obviously have been scripted elements but it’s not as apparent.

I loved this...it was like watching Hammond's descent into madness in real time.
Hammond has a distinct advantage - he badgers James so much that there's no way he'll be focused, and Hammond doesn't know what he's doing anyway so the concept of a 'plan' is beyond him.
Only Ham and May could turn an ancient strategy game played by kings into a college drinking game. I LOVE IT!
