The thing I appreciate is that, amidst all the comedy, there were always dozens of useful or historically relevant tidbits. The bit at 10:50 about fuel-injected models vs. carburetor was fun to learn, for example.

My favorite parts of these trips are the car introductions and the banter that follows. I never truly realized just how deep and rich the British automotive industry was until I started watching these guys.

When you work out from the first Porsche challenge Jeremy had a 928 and he never changed, when you work out why. That is what cars can mean to people. Regardless if it a Porsche or a smaller car. It is all about the story, the memories and the meaning.. That is worth millions.

This is why Top Gear was the most popular television programme in the world. Three guys, that had great chemistry and a genuine friendship. It wasn’t just about the cars. It was about the love of cars and the adventures could you have in them. I am pleased the guys are still doing the same sort of stuff, with Grand Tour. The biggest mistake BBC ever made and let’s face it, they have made some absolute clangers, was sacking Jeremy. The main reason I no longer have a TV that shows live programmes. I do not wish to support the BBC.

*at times* they had a genuine friendship. All three have talked about times when they had fallings out and did not consider each other friends but simply colleagues. They have all talked about times when they thought about quitting TG because they just hated each other (and yes, I use hated, not disliked). Tbh, you can see it when you watch episodes like these (challenge ones) as to whether they were in the middle of a fight. JM quit smoking whilst on TG, but both RH and JM went through periods, both singularly and together, when they were pissed at JC's smoking addiction.

My mate used a tyre repair to fix a puncture on his car, (the foam stuff) says to only use it for few miles and get a new tyre ASAP, I saw him years later and he said he was still driving it with the ducked wheel lol
