Hi Michelle, I 'm recovering from a broken wrist and really appreciate your work. I love your tone of voice, the rhythm, the clarity of the instructions, the way you keep it friendly but not too chatty and the implicit encouragement when you talk about "starting points" and thus help us feel we are going to progress. Great exercises well explained in a helpful progression. thanks
Hi Michelle, I’ve been going to physio for a few weeks, but I find your exercises more helpful. I’m so happy I found you on you tube. So appreciate your expertise and deliver very style. THANKS
Hello Michelle, I'm recovering from a broken wrist and elbow and have been following some of your videos, thank your for your explanation, kindness. Looking forward to keep learning from you, greetings from Bogotá, Colombia.
Hi Michelle ,recovering from a Colle's fracture and have found your videos really helpful .Thank you .
Hi Michelle! I echo Morag Mcgill's words below. Me too, I am recovering from a broken wrist. I'm on day two after getting the cast off and your therapy is doing wonders already. My wrist mobility is pretty limited, so I'm following your wrist pronation, supination, flexion and extension stretches and I am already seeing big progress! Thanks so much for professional and warm care. It feels rather close than virtual ;)
Hi Michelle: These videos as truly helpful. My broken wrist, now out of the cast and stiff, is happy to have these instructions to return to normalcy. We thank you again.
Good help thanks I didn't do last exercise yet. Recovering from radial wrist fracture. I've been out of my cast for 2weeks+
I’m just so happy that she explained the difference between wrist flexion and extension. I do kungfu and hav been trying to find info on this for couple years on and off but everything on YT is always just about wrist strength or injuries but never specifically extension! Thank you so much!!! 💛
Great info Michelle. You are awesome. I have been going to physical therapy and quite honestly what you do is above and beyond what the PT goes through with me. Thanks!

Hi Michelle: I am 4 weeks out of my cast for a broken wrist. I have been doing your exercises daily and now progressing to the more difficult exercises. You have been the best Physio Therapist. My wrist is recovering quickly. I still have two very swollen fingers and now following your videos to get them feeling better and looking forward to being able to make a fist hopefully soon. Thanks for all you do!

Thanks. The carpal strap stretch is new to me and was helpful. My carpals are very tight s/p distal radial orif. Best available evidence to reduce tissue creep (ability of collagen and elastin to recoil) is a 30 to 60” hold. Long prolonged stretches are good. But the most benefit per unit time is between 30 and 60”. Not to say that repeated motions and short holds in end range aren’t helpful. It is helpful to go through that available range. But for maximum stretch, 30-60” have the best outcomes both short and long term. I do a few 60” slow and gradual stretches initially. After that, I am able to reach my end range more quickly and I switch to 30”. Some evidence suggests that icing immediately after stretching will further help reduce tissue creep. I stretch until I can no longer reach anymore substantial range, then immediately ice afterwards. Gel packs don’t get cold enough and they don’t stay cold for nearly the requisite 15’ required to have any effect. I use 1 part alcohol to 6-7 parts of water to make a ‘slush pack that’ will conform to the wrist. Ratio changes based on your freezer temp. Too slushy, add water. Too rigid, add alcohol. I use ziplock brand quart size freezer bags and double them up. They don’t last indefinitely but they’re cheap. And they get and stay cold for multiple uses. The goal of icing is blood vessel constriction to reduce inflammation (and now diminish tissue creep-unrelated to blood vessel constriction). Gel ‘ice’ packs produce very little vessel constriction relative to something like an ice cup, or the aforementioned alcohol packs. Gel packs are genuinely almost worthless. I wish someone would come up with a wrist flexor passive stretching device. Something I could wear for prolonged durations. I’ve looked on DME catalogues to Amazon and have found nothing. If you could find a way to make such a device that could simultaneously distract the wrist joint and stretch, it would probably be more effective as well as more comfortable. When my OT distracts my wrist, I get easily 5 more degrees of ext. It’s also less painful. Granted, that would be difficult to design. But short of that, if you could design a device that passively stretched the wrist, even w/o distraction, I think you’d be on to something. I don’t need to tell you how impactful it is on ADLs and IADLs to lack full wrist extension. It’s so aggravating. I would buy one. It’s good for us less than compliant and lazy Pts. Thanks again.
Hi Michelle just found your utube video so glad I did. I have come out of plaster today no physio available (apparently it's a luxury) 😑for don't know how long, I was just given a website address for some exercises which was useless. Thank you for your really helpful and easy to understand exercises, it's my right hand I have to get full mobility back.
Excellent.
You help me sooooo much! ❤
Thanks so much 😇
Not a person who responds to videos, but this is the exception here. I had a brachial plexus malfunction after shoulder surgery about 5/6 months ago. 3 months with a flaccid arm/hand and the wrong type of sling. Once the nerves and muscles started working a bit it was discovered the arm and hand were in a hot mess. Working patiently hard getting strength and range of motion back to as close to normal as possible. Wrist extension and forearm pronation are two of the challenges I am working on now. These suggestions are great and you explained the issue I have with the proximal row which I had no idea about. You also helped me figure out why sometimes when I stretch the wrist I get a slight pain in the back of the metacarpals. I do a similar thing as the kneeling demonstration except I am standing over a counter; has been working great too. The forearm pronation video was great too. Thinking my issue(s) with the forearm and getting my arm straight may be related. My goal is to be able to do at least one push-up in a month. Need some good wrist extension
Hello Michelle, I definitely agree with all the other comments. I fractured and dislocated my wrist. I actually told my PT that I was watching all your videos because you really know how to motivate me to do my exercises 3 times a day 😊 Thank you so much for helping me through my healing ❤ I wish that you did feet because also fractured my ankle .

I saw these exercises in your previous video. And started doing them. Out of the cast for 2 days now,and now I can touch my pinky with my thumb,do supination and a little pronation. Do the fist. 🙏
Hi Michelle i am having a little difficulty doing the wrist exercises because it still hurts. But I will keep doing it until there is no pain. Thank you
Nice video.i am need exercise for Stoke patients . Exercise for fingers.
Thank you very much I need exercises for fingers locked
I'm a week post surgery with a plate and 9 screws. Are these good exercises for me to do now? My Dr only prescribed home exercises with archaic hand drawn exercises which aren't as easy to follow as your videos. I've been doing the other ones after cast removal and those are great. Thank you so much for these 😀
Good exercise
Thank you very mouch
Super wrist exercises.Brings an immense amt. of relief. Could you please demonstrate some exercise for shoulder and neck pain. I suffer from ostheo arthritis.
Thanks
I am 4 months out from distal radius surgery. I am disappointed that I can't bend my wrist 90 degrees as you do in the videos. I certainly can't do the last exercise. I wish you could make a video for those of us who are struggling and not that advanced.
Thank you! I broke my fifth metacarpal and it was a splint for four weeks. I did your exercises for a boxer’s fracture and when I went to the doctor for last appointment after removing the splint and he told me I was “ahead of schedule.” I attribute it to you.
Excellent 🏆🏆
Very informative exercise video. Love and respect feom India 🙏

Gonna do these after my piano practice sessions.
hi I Am So happy I found you ❣️
Can you please suggest some exercises for fingers strengthening too as I had spinal injury after that right hand grip has weakened.
Both of my wrists were broken. I really find your videos helpful. Was looking for more than PT.
Thank you so much for your beautiful videos, I'm trying them but my wrists hurts so much and cont close my fingers. I broke my elbow and my wrists and the pain is so sore a lot been in plaster for 3 months. The dr took it off and told my I will never be able to use my arm but I can't except that I have to use my right hand. Please help me to be able to use my hands thank you so much..I did not have the money for the surgery of my elbow and the dr said that OK but you will have to exercises
مفيد جدا شكرا لك
With me, I can bend my wrist back relatively well but flexing/extending back has kind of always been difficult for me. Although I’m pretty much able to do all these stretches mildly comfortably but I feel like 3-5 might be better exercises for me, which I’ll continue practicing daily. My left wrist extension is pretty ok but my right one needs a lot of work. I’m glad I found this video though and I hope these stretches help me.
Hi Michelle. Do u mind release a video to treat scapholune ligament repair exercises?
Hi Michelle, I had a wrist facture in April and have been using all your exercises and have found them extremely helpful. I thank you so much for your clear explanations. My question is how many different types of stretches would you advise doing in one session or would you recommend that I do different ones at different times during the day.

So sorry I am just now seeing your comment. It can be helpful to do 2-3 stretches in one session of different body parts such as fingers, thumb, wrist and forearm, then repeat that again several times a day. However I don't usually like to do too many of the same stretches for the same body part and motion, such as too many wrist extension exercises. Hope that helps!
You are covering very good topics these days, Please make few videos for open surgery of left leg exercises, I got road accident 6 month before, and my left arm, hand, and left were broken, I need some leg exercises, Thanks
Thanks and clearly explained
Hi Ma'am Michelle, Thanks for your videos about hand therapy. Actually, I Injured my forearm way back in 2013, and right now my injured arm is in not 100% of motion. Can I Still try this exercise to recover my arm to become 100% in motion?
Michelle, we need to do both, supination and extension after a wrist fracture. Should we do these different movements at different times of day or can we just relax a little before starting the opposite movement? Thank you!
Hi Michelle, thanks for your videos. A gust of wind adjusted the flight path of my paraglider and when I corrected a pole was in front of me and I smashed into it breaking my hand in three places. I was immobilized for 7 weeks and my fingers and wrist have very inadequate range of motion. I am working through your videos to get my hand back. Thanks for your effort.

I have a volar plate on my radius, and can't get anywhere near my normal extension 7 months after surgery, could removing the plate make the difference or does that rarely make a difference from your experience, since surgeons don't like to remove
Hello Michelle, I had wrist fracture 4 months ago, as an eye surgeon , my hands are my life , thanks a lot for wonderful instructions and exercise! I have recovered well . Now I want to go back to my golf, any special exercise? Best : Dr mukesh joshi : Kenya
Hello,I like your performance and it helps me a lot.I had a commented fracture of my rt.supracondilar arm and I cannot perfect the no.one exercise of my palm extention .My Lft. Is good.hopefully the daily routine exercise could help me.Thanks! I am having a trigger fingers of my rt.hand this 2 was time and numbness of my fingers as well.what is the cause of this?
Hi Michelle - I recently had a distal radius fracture. Just got out of my cast three days ago. The wrist area feels like cement just like you described in the video and extension feels extremely tough. Should I just stick to exercise 1-3 for the first few weeks? Does applying ice pack or heating pad? Also help in between these exercises.
nice videos i want rotation wrist excersices too

I have a video for supination here- Best Forearm Exercises for Supination
Very good indeed. Thank you, Michelle! Could you tell me please a little about the theory of these exercises, I assume that they are absolutely anchored in some scientific knowledge, just some background. Greetings, Thair
I have not had good wrist extension for many years, my PT says it is just the way I am made. I also use clenched fists to get up from the floor, doing push-up, etc, also.
I must try these gently as my wrist is very stiff after a radial elbow fracture . Extension is my main issue. Bending my wrist back is stiff. And bending forward also. Thank you.
i broke my scaphoid bone about 2 years ago and it was never caught on the x-ray, well just recently i got into weight lifting and it’s been bothering me with limited ROM. Went to the doctor and turns out my scaphoid was broken in half and the bone was dying due to limited blood supply. I had surgery dec 23rd, bone graph taken from one of the bones in my arm and put between the 2 broken pieces of my scaphoid and internally fixed together with a screw. I was in a cast for 6 weeks and stared ROM exercises 4 weeks ago, then 2 weeks ago my my doctor released me to lift 20lbs and start doing some strengthening exercises and my grip strength is about 45lbs compared to my good arm of 95lbs. But you are right michelle! it hurts when you go from stretching extension to flexion, learned that the hard was when a PTA was stretching me at PT. Anyways my wrist flexion is pretty close back to 90° but my wrist extension is probably about 40-45° which is probably about what it was like before surgery, but i’m hoping to get back a full 90° wrist extension so i can do a push up. Ive been at the gym doing chest press and everything else only with 20lbs obviously but there is still some discomfort when weight bearing. Some of these exercises i’ve been doing but i’m gonna try the ones i. haven’t and do them multiple times a day to try and recover faster. I go back to the doctor in a couple days hopefully he’ll give me a full release.
Hey Michelle I just put on deodorant with my healing broken humerus after doing this video. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I lost my insurance then I lost my job due to my disability and I cannot afford PT. You are a God send🙏🏽
Hi Michelle, can you please make a video on paralysis recovery and ways to recover uneven muscle stiffness....??
Wow these exercise really helped; both wrists broken.
I started your exercices today march 23, 2024. I will inform you about my progres ;-)) !
hey michelle, broke my wrist many months ago and thought i had fully recovered until i attempted to do push ups this week and found that the tension in my wrist extension was far too limited/tight. Will keep trying your stretches especially the last one to help mobility, day1 today, keep you posted, many thanks for the video :)

Do you have any advice for scar care? I heard you can massage it, but I don't know what I am doing or why. I had wrist surgery where a plate was added to my wrist bone and have a 3 inch scar down the inside of my wrist.
I had a Rist facture and I had a surgery with a plate and 5 screws in my wrist can Now it is around 5 weeks can i do all of these exercises if yes after how many weeks i can start doing and if i do how much percentage i can get back my motions. Thank you in advance.
Please help me. I had an operation on my hand because the thumb tendon was cut, and after removing the stitches, the doctor advised me to do physical therapy, but the thumb tendon got stuck, so the doctor returned the operation to me so that the tendon moved in its course easily. But now the tendon is still short and my thumb can't reach the palm of the hand and the hand muscle is weak and I still can't grab small things with my fingers. Please advise me with information and how long it takes for the tendon to return to its length, knowing that the first operation was in October and the second was in January, and thank you very much for the videos. They are very useful, but I find it difficult to apply them because the strength of my hands is weak, especially the thumb.
Great video I will be doing these for sure i broke my wrist in September and I still don't have full extension This will help I was doing it with you All but the floor one Thanks will watch it daily Im sure this will be very helpful since my physio is done
