A big thing to consider is whether or not these RN-BSN programs are pass or fail, or if you get actual grades. CRNA programs in particular want to see actual grades. But if you’re wanting a BSN just to make yourself look better on a resume, then a pass or fail program will definitely be easier overall

Hello I am an RN and I keep hearing about WGU but each person has their own opinions about the program. They say it’s self taught..I’m pretty dedicated but I am concerned about teaching myself. Are there at least recorded class lessons to follow or is it just me reading and hoping I’m covering what will be on an exam. I just don’t want to cmmit to a school and then you have no guidance…I can’t afford to waste money like that. It’s the uncertainty that is holding me back right now. Thank you for your time and this video.

If I’m being honest. I learned more in a more “self taught” school than I did at Major Universities. The difference is being taught general concepts vs self taught you are graded on how well you apply the concepts to real life situations which helps you utilize it in your work more. That was a concern of mine as well.

All of these online programs you mentioned, are contingent upon completing certain general education requirements first, before you can apply. Prospective applicants may not have completed the required general education courses, especially in Florida, and will have to pay for those courses first. This adds to the length and cost of getting a BSN degree online. Also, in-state and out-of-state tuition is different for public state universities. Some private universities charge the same tuition for in-state and out-of-state students.

Also money can be a nice benefit for sure, but should never be the main impetus for any field. It’s just not worth it if it means spending your time doing something you do not enjoy, or even worse actually hate. Nursing isn’t easy. And quality patient care is so vitally important but I would imagine being difficult to give if your heart wasn’t really in it. If you feel you would enjoy the medical field, go for it. If you think you wouldn’t, find something else you’ll really love doing and spending your days on. 😄

Hi, thanks for your comment. That all depends on your educational background and what kind of program you want to do. You could go through a community college, a four year university or a diploma program. I acquired mine through a diploma program. There's various things you should consider and I would just recommend doing your research.

WGU was the worst school ever. You have to pay upfront. First semestwr is about $4,300 and you pretty much teach yourself, no deadlines no structure, no guidance. You are just thrown the work. Because of this and life most people procrastinate and end up doing it on average of 4-6 semesters.... this adds up

Then they take long to approve the site -up to 6 months! And some sites need an affiliation. I live in Los Angeles and almost all places need an affiliation. Meanwhile, you’re paying for the term and you can’t even start. IT’S A MONEY GRABBING SCAM!
