Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. Thank you very much for your time. Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI). Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy. Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI). Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad). Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning! Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures. Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement. It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them. (19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).. God said : Say, “We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and in what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them. And to Him, we surrender.” (2:136 / Translated by Community) Salam (Peace) -----------------------------------

I have been learning German for fun for the last few months when I have spare time. I'm curious, I get the meaning of “Ausländische Weltmitbewohner” but my German is so basic that I see mitbewohne and see housemate, welt meaning world and Ausländische meaning foreign, but as a phrase how would you translate this?

This is the better “American Tries To Learn Foreign Language” series. And Sophia REALLY made the effort to pronounce and repeat the words said to her, she even asked constructive questions back to further expand her understanding. In comparison to the “other video” which involved another American repeating words from Spanish, Brazilian and Italian speakers ( you can guess which video it is ), This video with Sophia is the one where I don’t feel like ripping my hair out in frustration, it was a smooth teaching & learning session.

I don't think Japanese is all that difficult, or atleast its difficulty is often overstated. It has the simplest grammar of any language I've learned or seen in general, and a uniform pronounciation in contrast to English. The only real challenge is memorizing the part of the language that traces to Chinese (that being the Kanji) which heavily varies in difficulty based on the personal learning type. For those who memorize in a visual way it's rather straight forward. Mandarin and Arabic on the other are much more difficult from what I've seen.

Then to remember that certain compound Kanji doesn't actually mean at all what you'd think those two or more kanji mean... for instance 寿司 means sushi... 寿 - longevity and 司 - administer. And some kanji compounds mean exactly what they're made out of such as the word 倶楽部 kurabu which means club(not the tool)... shared joy club...

I think most lists place Mandarin high on the list. I would say Euskara (the language of the Basque in Spain). It has nothing in common with any other language on Earth. There are very few people who speak it, so you pretty much have to travel to the Basque region, to practice it with native speakers. For the vast majority of learners, there would be almost no motivation to stick to it through the difficult plateaus (probably the number one key to success or failure in any language). There is a story that says that Satan decided to learn Euskara, so that he could tempt Basque people and condemn them to Hell. After 7 years, he gave up. Euskara is the language that the Devil himself couldn't learn.

Different cultures divide up the color spectrum differently than others. One might have one word for all of the shades of green, two for blue, eight for red and call brown "dark orange" (just for instance). So, with the influence of exposure to other cultures, some will adopt a foreign word for a certain color, that they hadn't given its own name previously. Japanese borrowed the English word "Pink" ピンク (Pinku) for light red.

German is actually also pretty tough to learn. Yeah on the surface level like by comparing random words with each other it seems we share a huge amount of similarities with each other but going deeper and actually trying to become fluent in German and building entire correctly structured sentences, it gets pretty tricky. For example English and German syntax rules vastly differentiate between each other: The main difference that sets apart German sentence structure from that of English is that German is an OV (Object-Verb) language, whereas English is a VO (verb-object) language. Additionally, German, like all Germanic languages except English, uses V2 word order, though only in independent clauses. In dependent clauses, the finite verb is placed last. Declarative sentences use V2 word order: the finite verb is preceded by one and only one constituent (unlike in English, this need not be the subject); in Germanic tradition, the position occupied by this constituent is referred to as the Vorfeld 'prefield'. Coordinating conjunctions like und 'and' or aber 'but' precede both the prefield and the finite verb, and so do topicalised elements (similarly to the 'that' in English 'That I don't know'). The prefield is often used to convey emphasis. Which can cause major headaches using you’re whole life a different syntax structure and now being forced to restructure your natural way of forming sentences by turning the rules around in to the opposite. And later on sometimes you even didn’t know anymore which syntax rule is the right one being used in you’re own mother tongue because both variations seem to be wrong. And even more struggling matter for English speaker to use the correct german version of „the“. Where English has only: „a“, „an“ & „the“ German uses 13 different article: „der, die, das, dem, den, des, ein, einen, einem, eines, keine, keinen, keiner“, and how they being correctly used depends entirely on the gender of the following noun (Masculine/Feminine/Neuter) also the 4 cases (nominative/accusative/dative/genitive) as well as mentioning the quantity (plural/singular) Conventional Definite articles: Kasus maskulin feminin neutral Plural Nominativ der die das die Akkusativ den die das die Dativ dem der dem den Genitiv des der des der Conventional Indefinite articles: Kasus maskulin feminin neutral Plural Nominativ ein eine ein keine Akkusativ einen eine ein keine Dativ einem einer einem keinen Genitiv eines einer eines keiner And don’t get me started on the rules of former and informer Speech and when they being used depending on status, age, job, level of academic education and other social cues, of The Person you talk to…..

I'd definitely say that Spanish is easier for English speakers to learn than German is, but that could just be my own personal bias as a Spanish speaker who's starting to learn German. Spanish does have a robust tense and conjugation system with a ton of irregular conjugations, but the German case system is an absolute mystery to me. Also like Eddie said, the genders of words in German are much harder to identify as a learner than the genders of words in Spanish, especially with having neuter in addition to masculine and feminine. Also how some words that describe female subjects are actually grammatically neuter, and not feminine, in German, like das Mädchen (the girl) in German instead of die Mädchen.

Is 'lila' in German used in both purple and lilac? Because in Spanish we also say lila but more for lilac (even in Catalan lila is more related to for lilac, but morat for purple). Then you remember we have púrpura in both and violeta, so many words 😅 I'm assuming it's the same for the rest, but nobody said this to me when I was learning German. All was lila 🤷🏻‍♀️

In German, "lila" is by far the most common word and it simply means "purple". We also have "violett", some people think there's a difference, but for most people they are synonyms. I think lilac is what we would call "Flieder" here, like the flower Flieder. We also have "purpur", but that always sounds really old, I've never heard anyone younger than 50 use it... And it's usually associated with a more red colour ("purpurrot" = "maroon" in English).
