It might be a cop-out, but I was expecting any of the 2-color partners to be on here. Tymna/Thrasios come to mind. The ability to have so much consistency, advantage, and potential payoffs with double commanders is very strong.

Can you do a top 10 video on cards that look good on paper but are actually bad in practice?

Was definitely expecting Prosper, Tome-Bound and Chatterfang, Squirrel General on this list. Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait is another good one.

Picked up the green/white WOE precon as my first commander deck, definitely feel the pain of having to draw into an "enchantress" effect, since the commander for that deck just makes lots of enchantment tokens. She only draws you a card when an enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, less reliable for sure

Actually Kinnan being half-green is arguably his largest drawback. Green's ramp is almost irrelevant in high-level Commander gameplay due to the prevalence of mana rocks invalidating its ramp, leaving it mostly with effects that are extremely overcosted under the assumption they're in a color with better ramp than other ones. His saving grace is the fact he has blue, which is by far the most dominant color at high-level due to how important responses are. If Kinnan's second color was anything but green he would easily be the strongest commander choice in the entire format given how he's already contending for that spot as a simic without Partner.

I'm thinking about using Ob Nixilis for a Rakdos, Lord of Riots commander deck. Do y'all think that'd be an optimal card to include?

If you have reliable ways to make opponents lost exactly one life, absolutely!

Everytime Ghyrson trigger it also give you the ability to say "PEW PEW PEW!" 😂😂😂😂 Amazing!

Mono/two color commanders are my favorite. I like trying to leverage the strengths of each color. Feels very thematic. I find the wburg good stuff commanders kind of bland.

My first ever game of Magic I pulled off the Ob Nixilis/All Will be One infinite by accident and won as a result.

Feather the redeemed is definitely onebif the best commanders in borros. I like her much more then winota. Way more ways to interact with the board, wvery turn lol.

true but Winota in cEDH metas at least is better rn, the Stax pieces that you could run doesnt affect Winota nearly as much as it effects Feather so running Winota means you can do asymmetrical Stax which is practically a win con in cEDH

@0ddst0ff33 Winota definitely has the better record in cedh, and I've seen videos of her popping of ridiculously fast. I just love being able to flicker my dockside on everyone's turn with the same 1 mana cloudshift, or the 3 mana eerie interlude to blink all my troops to avoid a board wipe and getting it right back after. I guess I have never played with Winota yet, so I should probably make a deck with her. I just don't see many ways boros can protect your board and control combat without the recursion Feather gives you.

I haven't actively played MtG since around 2002 but I do still enjoy watching how broken this game is lol

A couple of corrections: -Niv-Mizzet doesn't go infinite with curiosity, since it deals damage on your draw. Now, when this combo was in a sixty cards format against a single twenty life opponent, it could have been considered infinite as well, but in commander your actual deck will have 99 cards and your opponents 40 life each, for a total of 120. So the Curiosity combo is rarely used as a finisher, is more used to remove a single, problematic opponent and then using the cards actually drawn to win. -For Yuriko, the strength is that you can actually cast Brainstorm-like effects after Yuriko effect is triggered, so that you won't end saddled with the bad draw you put back in if the damage is prevented. -Gitrog might not actually fit the list, as there are other commanders in that color combination that might be considered stronger, even though Gitrog is definitely unique: Chitterfang is deceptively powerful, Lathril both helps elfball decks (altready decent on their own) getting large and represent a closing condition, and Dina turns your life gain into pings (and it's easy to build a deck with several chip sources of small life) while being half of the Exquisite Blood combo sitting cheap in the command zone, all of them are worth consideration.

​@@jayredharpstudios9672 no, it doesn't, you have to draw a card every iteration to trigger the damage, so the amount of damage you can deal is equal to the number of cards in your library, which is a finite resource. I mean, try it at a commander table, you will notice that your library runs out faster than your opponents' life points. Of course, you can use cards like Furnace of Rath to deal more damage, or find a way to reshuffle cards into your library to help with the issue and make it actually infinite, but at that point is a more complex combo.

@@themantyf1116 if we're assuming that all of your opponents have 40+ life each then yeah you're not going to win but considering that instants and sorceries are some of the most common cards to be cast especially if you're playing Niz-Mizzet then you're opponents life are likely going to be less than starting and also lab man, Jace Wielder of Mysteries exist so you can win off of an empty library if you can't ping everyone, there is also City on Fire to triple the damage or Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might to turn that weak one damage into four damage

@@jayredharpstudios9672 the first point was covered in my original comment, though, if you notice I said that you either wait for them to be low enough or (usually) aim it to the player who can stop you and then use another win condition. And yes, damage multipliers, lab man effects and all are valid ways to do so, I'm not arguing about the commander's strength, but if you assume you have to rely on that or consider the amount of life points it confirms that the combo itself isn't infinite. Which is what I was saying. I mean, compare it with Ob-Nixilis' one, which actually is infinite and can bring down your opponents regardless of their life points.

lol Jhoira is way better then Edris, I have played cEDH for 7 years and seen once Edris deck which lost that game (it was at a gen con), I was playing jhoira and have top 8ed 7 times so...

Yeah, but Ob also exiles top card of library. So, all someone needs to do is have more life than 3x your library and hold up a way to make you draw.

I think Veyran edges out ghyson. if Ojer deepest might and guttersnipe, double ojers power with a 2 mana spell, cast 2 more cantrips and the table takes 40 damage lol

The way Edric uses politics and psychological manipulation to trick your opponents into killing each other for you is very funny

Kind of BS to not have any of the Partner commanders, particularly since they make up the bulk of high level play and this is literally a Top 10... meaning they are objectively some of the best commanders in the whole game. I'm fine Kinnan, Winota, Yuriko, and Niv-Mizzet being on the list, but the fact that you put comparatively little used cards like Sythis and Ghryson Starn over Kraum, Tymna, Tevesh, Thrasios, or Bruse Tarl is ridiculously silly.

@@EastCoastMikeP At mine, it depends because they have multiple EDH events. They have a "casual" event which has a Banned As Commander list. They also have a CEDH event which follows the rules exactly. I see Sythis a lot in the casual events, almost never in the competitive events though.

I know we're past they're heydays, but it feels weird not see Omnath Locus of Rage, Selvala Explorer Returned, or Aurelia the Warleader even get mentioned tbh.

I mean, to be fair, Winota is like.... THE only red/white commander viable in super high level commander

Gruul and Orzhov are not represented, while Izzet and Simic are represented twice Close to all of them

Let's see, for Gruul I would probably go with Minsc and Boo, Timeless Heroes? Or maybe Tovolar, Dire Overlord who basically is the only reason to even play werewolves lol. For Orzhov...uh...are there even any competitive Orzhov decks? Maybe Breena, the Demagogue for the same reason as Edric? You may have to dip into partners for Orzhov?

Unfortunately gruul and orzhov are color combinations with good but not that many on high level, in both casual or high power/cEDH. I really like some gruuls and orzhov commanders (especially Raggadragga and Breena) but i have to admit that.
