Getting back to Sicili in two weeks. Food is definitely one of the best things in the island.

Granita and Brioche are my favorite. I didn't miss a day without it when I visited Sicily.

Exactly! In Italy, every region has their history, food , architecture and dialect! Italy is a mix of people and culture, not one

I miss Sicily was there from 2016-2019. Our daughter was created there but went to the states to have her then back, after ten months.

Excellent commentary but you left out the quintessential Sicilian dish of my parents and grandparents - pasta con le sarde. I had it Sciacca and Siracusa but found it difficult to get in some cities as I was told it took to much work to make if it is not a regular menu item.

So did you like the tripe on stick we do in Brooklyn NYC with peas and Pasta.

I’m not a fan of eggplant - I’d get the pasta Normand “sensa melanzane” but otherwise yeah - totally miss the cuisine of Sicilia and the six years stationed there.

Sicily didn't "played host", it was invaded and colonized... :D That's how it got all those cultural influences. I would skip the brioche, I never understood why anyone would want to eat it with a granita or gelato. Arancini are a must try, but avoid the ones sold in the beach or along the trains, buy them in shops.

Arancina and Arancino are slightly different: Arancina (from Palermo) is a ball of rise with the ragù (or any other flavors) in the center of the ball. Arancino (from Catania) is rise and ragù mixed together and then turned in a ball.
