I've been to this sandwich shop and eaten his sandwich. Waited 1.5 hours for a sandwich while he entertained the patrons and made each sandwich in a unique way. Totally worth it. I'll never forget that sandwich

This isn't a place in wich you just eat, this is an experience. I've been in Ortigia this summer and went straight to Borderi and I found out that particular day was Mr. Andrea's birthday. He was so excited that he started to offer cheese throwing it to all the people waiting for sandwiches, he was singing songs to whoever bought a piece of cheese and he always had an incredible smile on his face. I love this man

I love to cook, and I scour the internet for people and food like this. I have re-created this sandwich (to the best of my ability) and it is my family's favorite sandwich that I make! The little bits of lemon rind chopped into the sandwich are absolute genius, and it is more art than cooking in my opinion. I am going to go there and eat with this man and his family! Grazie!!

My general principle for traveling is to go to places that are more difficult to get to because when you get older you might not be able to go there again. Enjoy your day.

I’m so mesmerized by this video because the food looks so good and fresh. Like what real food is suppose to look like. I wouldn’t want to leave Italy. I've been there last month. You could choose between two types of sandwich: custom or "fantasia" (fantasy). The latter varies from day to day; it's sort of improvised based on the ingredients they have in that moment --this is the type that the man is preparing in the video. Of course, I went with "fantasia". Best sandwich I ever had in my entire life.

Hi Cindy. That cheese is Tricotta( baked ricotta).He said a lot of things! :) He is such a sweet person and he truly loves his job. The best thing about that place, as u can see, is that you eat even if you don't buy anything. Just pass by and he will offer something to eat. At 5:20 he says :" It's not important what you eat or how much you spend, the important thing is to socialize." This shows the Italian spirit about eating.

He's just flicking around the table with no reason just to make fuss around. To make this sort of sandwich would have taken less a minute but he managed to do it for 5 minutes.

I'm Italian and I really don't understand why there are so many people worried about gloves. If you wear gloves and touch here and there nothing change. His hands are very clean and for sure washing, it every now. As he's saying respect for people is offer high-quality raw foods. If you don't agree with this theory go straight into a fucking Mc'D and eat the shit cooked with gloves. For sure you feel better. ;)

It's about putting everything into one place , meat , vegetables and bread, crushing garlic on board where he puts meat etc etc, what if someone vegetarian? What if someone doesn't like garlic and onion smell on his cheese or bread ? This is what i meant, as for hygiene,as long as you eat out of home its normally dirty because they don't care, it's not like your own mother or father, I had cobwebs on my salad while I was eating a steak at Churchill hotel intercontinental in London , which means that veg was old, plus hasn't been touched by water !!??

Growing up in New York, Brooklyn and Staten Island we had so many great shops where people would interact and everybody would live going, fresh food and veggies and the sangwitch!!!, but I will say that last sandwich made me cry, I don’t eat meat but I would have to eat that Sammie- it’s a work of art

That is so true! The pandemic forced me to stay at home, and now, I just have 1 friend over at a time (providing nobody has had any symptoms for 2 weeks) and I cook, instead of going to restaurants like we used to. We're saving lots of money, and we are enjoying ourselves MORE than when we used to go out.

I went here on holiday couple years ago. In that region they mentioned him so we went and tried. It was in september, not as crowded and amazing weather. He made us 2 sandwiches with love. We tried to pay and he insisted we go enjoy the sandwich and the weather. And come back later to pay according to how much we enjoyed the sandwich. We sat by the water 40 meters from there had some amazing food. U dont just eat their food. They teach u something. I have some great memories from that holiday. I would advise any foodie to visit east of sicilly. Its ridiculous what they do with fresh food.

What I like about Italian cuisine is that they don't rely on too many spices. Instead they go for fresh quality ingredients.

@@ACIDOLATTlCO A lot of people don't but there is a pretty decent movement going on if corporations and the media keep their noses out. People act like they don't have time when in fact it is just what you prioritize when trying to keep up with the Jones's who are just trying to keep up with what the corporations and media tell them they are supposed to do. They American dream is just that, a dream world where everyone is asleep. Eat your damn garlic!

The spice is the food itself, highest form of flavour.

This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!

My wife’s family is from Palermo, I plan on visiting in the near future as I hear it is beautiful, wish my father in law was still alive as I would have loved to see him look at his home through his eyes. Live the olive oil sand produce/ fish.

man this is sickingly good to the point that it looks like something your mother would do just for you, the fact that everything is cut and prepared right when you ask for instead of being pre cut/sliced/shreded like a tomato starts going bad the moment you slice it, you go to burger king and they have those tomatoes for hours just sitting there this is amazing

I love how he smashes the garlic, throws it with some oil and some cheese on that, then sprinkles some dried plant out of a rose bag, dousing it with another bottle He's like a food druid

I'm an Italian living in Japan. Food here is great, probably one of the best in the world, but the food in my country is the only one that will ever and forever make me cry of joy, it's just undescribable... I miss it terribly. 😢

luckily your (food) is not difficult to make or is easy to find ingredients all over the world to make it, even if you are on the other side of the world, you just need dough, tomato and cheeeese then you can make practically every dish existing in italy

Initial D really? I think that you have never tried Italian cuisine... We don't have only pasta or pizza with tomatoes and mozzarella.... Do you know carbonara? Pasta fagioli e cozze (pasta with beans and mussels)? Italian pesto? Pasta with pumpkin? Fiorentina? Sausages and "friarielli"? Vaccinara tail? Casatiello?.... I can go on forever....

Alessio lannone Every cuisine has ingredients that aren't common, but with the way the world is today they are obtainable. Japan has one of the best seafood markets in the world, sure they won't be Mediterranean mussels, but it will be close enough. I live in the middle of America, away from the coasts, and I can make my traditional foods.

@@jfoodreviews When you like getting slapped in the face after trying to be behind the counter then go ahead. I don't think that any seller on the street would like that (expecially an italian in this case) + you make the whole crowd your enemie so better wait those 8 minutes.

if you want your food fast you usually don't say "yeah the streetmarket, this is where i get my food the fastest" If you want it fast, subway has you covered. no entertainment + almost no talking + 10 euro less in your wallet for a sandwich that has two slices of ham one slice of cheese and when you get lucky only 2 jalapeno stems.

Bravo! This looks like the best sandwich I have ever seen!

I already knew this man was going to make my mouth water when he was generous with pouring the olive oil on the bread. I need to make my way over there and enjoy eating!

this is life for him. his love and passion for history for his culture for Italy gastronomy, its a show.

My man stopped mid sandwich and fed the crowd 🤣. That being said, much respect he's mastered his craft and that sandwich looked amazing!
