The Global Expats

We are Matteo + Micha! Join us as we explore all 20 regions of Italy on the Ultimate Italian Road Trip! 🇮🇹

When we were in our early 20s and chasing our own dreams of living in Europe, we met one night at a pub in Florence...11 months later, we were married! Having been together for 6 years now, we have lived & worked on 3 different continents & even on a cruise ship!

We have moved to Italy to live out one of our biggest dreams - pulling off the Ultimate Italian Road Trip, traveling to all 20 regions of Italy & showcasing the incredible diversity all of them have to offer - from the history, architecture, art, culture, food, traditions and everything in between!

Our adventure through Italy is being done in true Italian style, slow and relaxed, in order to truly cover everything while enjoying all the beautiful moments along the way!

About Us:

Matteo is 50% South African 🇿🇦 50% Italian 🇮🇹 Raised in South Africa

Micha is 100% Lebanese 🇱🇧 Born in Canada 🇨🇦 Raised in Los Angeles 🇺🇸

By far my favourite space in Florence, absolutely worth taking a day out to see it. It could really work to go in see some of the gallery, go for a wander in the garden…come back and see more if the palace! 👏💕

It's a catching trend with the fiorentina, but the meat itself sells for around 40€/kg for fresh Chianina, even more for an aged steak. So from that standpoint, in a restaurant, it's not that costly but definitely not cheap as no chianina steak is cheap to buy in the first place. Glad you enjoyed.

I am fine with imperial measurement. I also like Fahrenheit better than Celsius because it has more precision. And i prefer the US date format of mm/dd/yyyy. The US uses metric for certain things like digital storage measurement (gigabytes, terabytes) or prescription drugs and nutrition facts (grams, milligrams). So it's mixed measurement systems.

I want to see the fresco but I don't have time to do the climb. Would it be a good idea to buy the Ghiberti Pass to see the dome from inside? And than see the Santa Reparata as well. Or can I also see the dome with the free entrance?

Hey guys, are there any hotels in the center of Lucca, that has elevators? We’re considering visiting Lucca this year, and it would be nice to know if there are some places that are handicap friendly. 😊🌼🌼🌼

The cost of a Fiorentina is about 30€ per kg, so you do pay a lot more if you want it served and perfectly cooked in a restaurant. Is it worth it? You decide. 30€ per kilo is pretty much a normal price for good meat, so you really can't complain about it. 120? That's steep. But I see you have enjoyed it so much so I guess it is worth it.

*I am not a fan of Foucaccia bread.* Those Panini look tasty, but I would ask them to make the same sandwich using either Ciabatta or Baguette. And the steak....yeah that is far too rare, and I would ask for pepper. I wouldn't even care if they got offended.

Ciao! We started watching and enjoyed your channel last summer before our first trip to Sicily. Upon our return to Sicily this summer we watched when you visited San Vito Lo Capo in October. We’re sorry you missed the warm weather! What a contrast when we arrived to a bustling town. We’ve enjoyed our days on the beach, strolling the town, and of course tasting the Caldo Freddo. Next, we’re headed to Aspra, a small fishing town we discovered last summer and also a return to Cefalu. We wish you continued buon viaggio.
