Question: A sober person, clean and alcohol free for months. Goes to play with his / her friends and has 1 drink. Is this a setback? Does this start their sober time all over again? New Year’s Eve? Same question? If control is maintained, and abuse does not occur, is this acceptable?

I gave myself time to mentally prepare. Had a date in mind. Told myself I was going to struggle and will feel awful and would give the booze a month break which I’ve done before. I knew that was the only way I would quit the cigs. I’ve tried quitting but always relapsed with my weekend beer benders. The first week sucked. But it got better. By the end of dry Jan I told myself I will keep it going. I said the same thing in Feb and so on. Now I love how clear my mind is and can breath. I replaced those habits with lifting and eating ice cream on the weekend. Now I’m working on my internal demons which were always there - hiding. Now i can take them on. And I’m winning. My family and friends are supporting my new me. Haven’t looked this great and sounded this great in years. You can do this. No one can make you put that crap in your mouth. You are in control.

Sparkling water does help. I'm battling my alcohol disorder too. Used to drink every day. Am now down to two times a week and down from 6 beers every day to maybe 12 drinks in a week and trying to do even less than that. These videos encourage me to stay away from it. It's tempting to drink but it's scary to think about the health consequences. I also waste alot of time when I drink.

This channel is great. It resonates with everything I feel about this pointless drug. I've done the sober thing for a year and then fallen off the wagon again. My main problem is I have gout and thankfully don't feel the need to drink except on social occasions with friends and being a typical Scots person we tend to drink till we drop on these occasions. I stopped no problem for a month last year. Now on day 6 and feeling better, no gout either. I really want to not start again. Great video thanks. Chris 👍👍

My alcohol consumption has SIGNIFICANTLY DROPPED this past year after decades of drinking. That said, I would like to eventually be at the point where I no longer consume it period, that’s my focal point. This past year during the pandemic, alcohol consumption skyrocketed whereas I was just the opposite of that! One time I quit for about six months, next thing I know, I’m seeing money I didn’t even know I had. My immediate reaction was “HOW THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN?!?” For YEARS I couldn’t save a bloody dollar to save my life, but that floored me right there! Some of my childhood friends have sworn off alcohol, that encouraged me, my wife swore it off (with the exception of a special occasion, i.e. our wedding anniversary, travel, etc), and that also encouraged me. I’m gonna rat myself out here, there used to be a time I could count on one hand how many drinks I’ve had in one hour to I could count on one hand how many drinks I’ve had within the last six months! If that ain’t a significant drop, IDK what is! I’m at the point where it’s one or two a month, and as I stated earlier, I want to eventually not drink period. Do I miss it? Sometimes. But I’ll tell you what I don’t miss: I don’t miss being sick, Unable to work, Being blacked out all the time, Not remembering what happened the night before (or the night before then), Being broke all the time, Hangovers, My blood pressure being as high as it was, Constant fighting with my weight, So much I can tell y’all, but out of respect , I don’t wanna flood the comment section. Another reason or two why I plan to let the bottle go permanently. 1) my health, and 2) my marriage in that order. I don’t need booze, last few times I had it, it wasn’t the same anymore…

Bit of an eye opener.. so stress is the cause.. instantly I think of meditation, and we should be incorporating that into our lives even just 10 minutes each morning

I’ve been sober 39 years since my 3rd child was born. I made a vow to God and my wife no more drinking. After a night out with friends that they had to bring me home. I don’t remember that party but I remember the fear in my wife the daughter and sister of a father and brother who were both alcoholics. My dad had quit drinking when I was little so I said if he can do it With God’s help I can do it.

The full title of the video is WHICH CELEBRITIES ARE SOBER???? --- The Biggest List --- Episode 105 In this video you will hear 128 [ one hundred and twenty eight ] stories of celebrities that attained lasting sobriety. My favorite line from the video is "Just because you are rich and famous does not mean you are rich and happy."

Famous, non- drinking rock musicians would be a cool topic, too. I know for a fact Henry Rollins (Black Flag) does not. In fact he is very anti-drug/alcohol, and quite outspoken about it.

And Donald Trump! He may be controversial, but to give credit where due he shows discipline in abstaining from drink. I don't think he ever struggled with addiction but his brother did, which apparently affected him and inspired him to go teetotal. To my knowledge he's stayed that way.
