    Considering GABA depletion in the brain the day after drinking is the cause of hangover anxiety, then GABA via injection should work because it would make it passed the gut. The GABA supplements don’t work because they are destroyed in the stomach before reaching the brain. No study’s available though.

One plan I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Sebs Magic Tactic (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most helpful method i've seen. Life is so much better when you're clean and healthy. that's what I think is one of the best ways to stop yourself from drinking. if you think your about to fail, right before you take that drink ask yourself why do I need this? why do I want this? If I drink this now, how will I feel about myself later? I think the same concept could be applied to overeating and obesity. Once you break out of the mental constraints you finally see how free you can be.

Cleaning my house or working on a project or chore list also helps. Point is everyone has things they can do to conquer a craving. For me the go to is a long hot shower, try it!

    I am a very positive and mentally strong person. I've never been reliant on Alcohol BUT I definitely feel that I MUST drink in a social setting where there is alcohol. If I'm alone, or at home, I don't want/need a drink. Through lockdown therefore, not drinking has been SO easy. But now as the social scene opens up again, I want to be involved WITHOUT drinking. The fact this feels so difficult completely supports the message of this video. Truth be told, when I drink, I become a proper dick. It needs to stop because that's just not me. As a person who lives close to the world headquarters of A--B, I can tell you the ad slogan that lasted the shortest amount of time for A--B is "We don't sell beer. We sell friendship. " The company often tries out ad slogans in its home city before broadcasting them to the world. I don't think that one made it out of town.

  • @sillygirl1139

    @sillygirl1139

    3 жыл бұрын

    Probably too overt for them... the slogan has much truth to it but seems to overtly showcase too much of the subtext that carries all advertising. Keeping your cognative processes for positive associations of a product subconscious to you or out of your immediate conscious awareness is the secret power behind what makes advertising work in my opinion. Mainly the reality that you're attracted to advertising subtext rather than the product in and of itself, and the (most often) false cause and effect relationship you've accepted between the subtext and the product. I'm sure there is more to it that someone in marketing or psychology can add but essentially advertising seems to be just like low level very drawn out hypnosis. Edit: grammar.

    i drank 10 alcohol free beers in 3 hours at a party my first get together since sobriety , was dead weird but ok. when ppl asked i said i had a surgery coming up(which is actually also true) so no one battered an eyelid. i only knew a few ppl there so it was a good test of my nerves. the 0% beers where my crutch - i just needed to put stuff in my mouth i think in social situations - but i drank them very fast. but i did it and also had fun

    well presented, well done! A small addition if I may: regarding your point 4, one could also add that the "normal drinker" we *think* we're seeing and potentially "buying into" could actually be a "hidden non-normal drinker". In other words, when "smart non-normals" are in the company of someone who might judge them, they can rein in their impulse to drink too much for that evening. How many "non-normals" are out there posing as "normals"? There's a sad irony in this: it would be better if the non-normals actually showed themselves as such, so that their plight is noticed and brought into the open and their friends would be able to help them to quit. At the same time, their friends would also be dissuaded from sliding in the same direction as opposed to falling for the "normal drinker" stereotype which, let's face it, is probably much rarer than we all think it is.

    Medically speaking alcohol is a hard drug, it is also classified in the highest category of cancer creating substances (along with asbestos !). Check out the US statistics on murders, family violence, violence towards police officers and traffic deaths : in 40 to 50% of the cases alcohol is involved. Good channel, spread the word.

    This sounds horrible - but the hardest thing for me to go sober - is my wife. She's 'lovely' 80% of the time and a complet nutjob for the remaining 20%. In 16 years of marriage I've done 2 x 6 months sober, 10 x 1 month sober (usually January or November) but each time I have to chose between my wife (going mental) or a bottle of single malt whisky. Normally I win - but sometimes the whisky does.

    Goes way deeper than this but solid video. There is a type of cognitive bias that we like what we're familiar with/ see more often. Applies with people, products, locations, things, etc. Otherwise why would car insurance companies, beer companies, etc. constantly advertise? Even when you say "meh that commercial did nothing" it actually hits where it matters- the unconscious mind. Also very messed up that society says we should drink when happy as well as sad. Obviously as video said, alcohol is poison (yeast poo), wouldn't drink it in a lab if just saw the side effects but put it in a fancy bottle & acceptable social setting or quiet space at home- go crazy lol. Obviously think everyone has their phases with alcohol- think need it to open up/ enjoy life/ relax, etc. buying into that. Of course a myth. But especially when feeling sick of life- that's when you should MOST Avoid this toxic s**t. Because we feel "f--- life, f--- girls/ guys, etc." and maybe even unconsciously feel if we screw up enough/ drink enough we'll come to automatically realize we fudged up and time to clean up, no. Alcohol doesn't fill voids, it widens and creates further voids. We aren't feeling "screw life" as much as "screw my current situation"- since we wouldn't be upset if things were going our way as we feel we "deserve" to have it. Yep

I think possibly the only way it’s beneficial if a doctor actually prescribed you alcohol in a dosage but outwith that not buying into the claims The other is the person who just had the two drinks . After what you said about the marketing I don’t want to be duped into even feeling I have to have one drink . Fantastic video mate 👏 👏 👏

I've been a performing musician and singer for 15 years and alcohol has been such a big part of that. I have played two sober gigs in the last two weeks and couldn't believe I not only didn't need it but i actually enjoyed it more and was less stressed . My performance and energy levels were better too. Not only that i wasnt stressing about getting my next drink or how many i could have before driving or that mood dip you get when it wears off thanks again for the inspiration!

    I think what makes it hard for some people and even impossible- when they dont value their lives. If they dont have much consideration for their lives, or much desire to live, it takes more. My dad died of alcoholism at 40 years old and my brother (only sibling/army vet) chose alcohol over diabetes and died at 29 last year. My mom is doing the same now. Drinking to drown her grief. This program is spectacular but for those who cant find self worth it probably will take therapy to realize that life is worth living. 😇 once theres a desire to actually live, this program sounds fantastic. Same here. At age 40 I started getting bad anxiety and panic attacks the day after drinking. I had to give up my once a week 5 cocktail buzz night. I was fortunate because I wasn’t a habitual drinker so it was relatively easy to just stop on my own. Sometimes I still want to put on a buzz, but I just think about the day after anxiety attacks and that keeps me off alcohol. I do miss a fine red wine with a nice steak though. Some people don’t get negative mental effects that bad the day after drinking. I get foggy so had to stop. It wasn’t worth one night of fun anymore.

I love the history and the Artistry that goes into crafting it, and I love the variety of flavors and smells. I really do wish all beer was non-alcoholic, instead of the entire industry being set up to poison us. Thankfully there are a lot of non-alcoholic Alternatives nowadays, though they aren't as cheap. Seems the trend in America is anything cheap and easily attainable is bad for you, and anything that might be healthier, is more expensive and harder to find.

    These are all excellent points. I think one helpful analogy is looking at cigarettes as a non-smoker (I've never smoked, I find tobacco disgusting, and I've always known it's a poison with no benefits whatsoever). When you look at cigarette ads or watch people smoking in movies, it's obvious that the behavior is idiotic - even if it does look sort of "cool," simply because we're conditioned to seeing such scenes. While cigarette ads can be esthetically appeallng, I've never felt the desire to light up, simply because I know what the product really is. If you start looking at alcohol the same way, i.e. as a fundamentally toxic and thoroughly useless substance, you'll no longer be taken in by it.

    Your videos helped me to change the way I look at drinking. Now I view it as a poison that adds nothing of value to my life and only takes away the things that I love. Once I viewed quitting as something positive and not a painful chore, it became easier. Now I do things sober and enjoy it! I take the time to reflect and be grateful for my life! One thing that really helped me was dark chocolate- the nasty 90% coco kind- this helped lessen the explosion in my brain from withdrawals. I still use it now and then when I get craving. Thanks again Leon!
