well probably because the reason he got sober was he had a spiritual calling and now believes in angels and demons and prays and the fact Joe rogan is a hardcore Athiest who does not believe in that and believes we came from monkeys etc plus joe Rogan went on his own tangent when Steve-o was getting to it...

When a guy like Steve O turns his life around It should really put the thinking cap on for anyone that struggles with life , money, etc, and addiction. Bless Steve o in this next phase. Some of us know what it’s like to live with ourselves after being so cruel to ourselves and those around us by being an addict. It’s time to wake up.

i fully agree. but on the other perspective, people will argue that his money helped him get sober. which at the end of the day, it assisted him. It's hard to want to get sober when you go home to a broken tent on a rainy day halfway under the freeway in seattle. Steve-o had enough funds and the best support system around him at the time. addiction is a harsh reality and everyones rock bottom is different

@@rickeyalaman1660 Not saying it wouldn’t help to have money if you’re trying to get clean but it can also be what sends you to addiction too. If you have all the time and money to fuck around it can be easy to slip down that slope. And also if you come from success the pressure to live up to that can be a lot harder than people think. All in all addiction affects anyone from rich to poor, black to white everyone’s circumstances are different.

what you forget is that steveo was born a rich kid and stayed rich even throughout all his drug escapades. Im not denying that he is great fkr going sober but he had access to very expensive support networks that many others dont. Ive struggled with quitting weed for years but when youre poor and without many friends just toughing up is sometimes not possible.

“Mushrooms are the worst for that” For those that haven’t done shrooms Steve-O’s description is the most accurate imo. The first time I did shrooms, it was fun, felt like I was drunk & was seeing colors with my eyes closed BUT the second time I was just putting myself on trial, like how Steve-O puts it best, I started to put myself in the shoes of others around me like my family & friends like “damn maybe I should be easier on them” or “maybe I don’t deserve to be in their life, they’d be better off without me” I just started crying my eyes out. Joe Rogan also said it best because you have all these problems that you don’t address & that was an effect from smoking weed for me cause I was short-tempered & I complained too much on my life, you know like how when you smoke, the first few hours you’re chill but hours later when you don’t smoke you tend to get a little agitated with everything, maybe that’s just me who was just fienin’ for another hit lmao. But after that trip I start to think & understand about others emotions better, like “maybe this guy is having a rough day, that’s why he’s upset” or “maybe I should take it easy on the way I approach people” shrooms is a magical drug but I would advice to be at peace with those around you before you do it because that trip was exhausting. I wouldn’t call it a bad trip, more like an awakening of my inner self & how to perceive others emotions better. In other words, don’t take shrooms if you’re an asshole. Lmfaoooo

Completely agree man. Wouldn’t have called it a bad trip, but it definitely opened my eyes to all my negative traits. I decided after the trip to get some professional help and it was the greatest thing I ever did for myself. To this day I don’t think I would be the same person without experiencing that eye opening and frightening experience

Nah, you should do it if you are an asshole lol, it could help straighten you out. In your case, it taught you how to be more empathetic. These are the sometimes the harsh truth that we NEED to learn about ourselves, because in the end, it makes us better humans. I used to be an asshole (not in general, but to certain important people in my life) until I started taking shrooms. I've always battled with at least some level of anxiety and depression, but since taking shrooms 12 or 13 years ago, my overall quality of life has vastly improved. The only time someone shouldn't take shrooms are when they are in a vulnerable state. If you're feeling good, eat a couple grams and feel even better. You might have to go through some shit to get to that feeling-better point, but in most cases, it's almost always worth it. It's basically intense self-therapy.

This was a great segment. I've had similar experiences. Not a fan of drugs, but, man, they force you in a reality that really makes you look at yourself. Eye opening or terrifying, it's a wild trip.

I honestly can say that this pod cast saved my life... I’ve been in such a bad moment in my life and to think it was all a perspective about myself made me so depressed. These two Saved my life

Kudos to Steve-o for getting and staying sober. Beating drug and alcohol addiction is no picnic which is why a lot of people don't try. I've been addicted to whatever I could afford over a large part of my life and I have nothing but admiration for anyone who gets straight and sober before it kills them, because it will!

It only leads to jails, institutions and death. I did the jails and institutions so I'm getting sober AGAIN before it makes me kill myself, because that's exactly where addiction brings me now, sitting in my flat isolating away from everyone who loves me for days on end with the curtains constantly pulled and listening to devil sitting on my shoulder telling me the world and everyone's lives would be a lot better without me in it.

Their talk about how your mind changes when you get high/shrooms and you get negative thoughts due to issues you haven’t dealt with hit home . Much respect to steve-o for turning his life around

Growing up watching Steve-os struggle and recover from drugs and seeing him so open about it has honestly kept me away from alot of hard drugs in life. Same with weed. Like marijuana isnt a BAD drug in comparison to the others but it can be extremely detrimental to your mental health if you smoke it as an escape from reality. Anything that alters your emotions or reality can be extremely dangerous if done out of pain or in a place of poor mental health. I'm all for people living life and making individual choices but I always try to warn my friends about wanting to take drugs to make sure they do they're research on it and go into it clear of mind and happy instead of using it to escape reality

@Troy Witherman yeah Steve-O had a dealer friend that used to inject his cocaine instead of snorting it. One time Steve-O goes to visit him and the guy is out cold on the sofa asleep, and on the table is a load of left over coke and dried blood. Steve-O out of desperation scraped it all together and snorted the whole lot. Worse thing about it though was Steve-O later found out the guy was HIV positive, so he had to get tested, luckily he wasn’t affected by it and HIV free.

Yeah, but on the other hand, the guy who is an actual stoner somehow manages to come up with a more intelligent-sounding theory about drugs whereas the guy who is sober says that you hallucinate while on a 3-day bender because the drugs are breaking down the barriers between dimensions of reality. Granted, I was more of a downer man than Steve-o here, but I've used psychedelics, abused nitrous and experienced stimulant psychosis (from meth, not coke) but as real as the meth people seemed, it was B.S. I saw a man in a ghille suit crouch down, and boost 3-4 men over my fence. I taped it, and hours later, showing someone, I'd pinpoint the same moment in the video time after time. Weird af cause it was a long still vid of a fence, why see it at exactly 1:19 over and again, wouldn't I error? Anyways, sobered up and saw it was a still video.

I feel the same way about weed as Steve does. I used to smoke it everyday, then all of the sudden getting high would just bring up such negative thoughts and all I would do was sit there and pick myself apart.

i know this is bad but im 14 nearly 15 and i tried weed for the first time when i was 12 and went through phases of smoking 3-4 maybe 5 joints a day just because i could and at first the high was the best feeling ive ever felt but the more i smoked i got more paranoid about it and started to make me a worse person im now currently 1 month and 9 days weed free and have no plans of going back to it

Alcohol suppresses the enzyme in your liver which processes cocaine, which means that you not only get a bigger high but a longer one if you do cocaine with alcohol in your system. My life is a a never ending circle that revisits interviews with Steve-O's journey to sobriety.

Dammm man, the mindset of being an addict is soooo scary and odd. You can't explain what its like unless you've been an addict. But you just are not yourself, you make decisions that are totally not yourself. It's scary in that respect. But if you can get through rock bottom, it will give you a certain maturity, a certain perspective and view on life and stressful situations that only overcoming addiction can give you. Steve-O is the PERFECT example of that. A recovered addict with a complete new lease and take on life.

I really enjoy Steve-O stories.

Thing is, there's layers to weed depending on the level you're at as a person. I used to smoke every day through highschool, just abuse it. When I got older, more knowledge, wisdom, awareness of spirituality and all these different aspects of life.. Weed became an entirely different animal. Most people use it mindlessly, as I did and I suspect Steve O did. But once you've opened those gates in your life, weed can be a pretty powerful tool and catalyst for your potential when used wisely.

There's something really cool about being sober, I'm not an alcoholic by any means but I would drink once/twice every week and have tried drugs at different points. If you can figure out how to be you and have fun without all the bullshit people put in their bodies I think that's pretty cool.

Steve o is amazing . So inspiring

As someone who lives in Australia, Plain Packaging did work to an extent, when it was introduced cigarette quit rates went up an insane amount. Sure there’s still the cocky bastards that say “yeah, that shit won’t happen to me” But the point of the plain packaging is that it no longer had the glamorous look that the regular packaging had, it was meant to make you look at the health risks every time you went to take a ciggie out. And it definitely got people thinking harder about it.

Dude I don’t think people realize how crazy his whippet story was that is literally fuckin nuts man

I had to stop the weed because of the exact description Rogan gave. I ended up too hyper aware of everything, even stupid stuff I said back in school and through the years. It just made everything so anxiously present and hyper real. There were some good experiences, especially with music and as long as I could channel my contemplation. But the anxiety got very noisy and consistent enough that I just had to knock it on the head. I would get random thoughts like "what if my mum calls me crying right now and tells me my dad has just collapsed and died". It was just too real. Weed has never made me feel relaxed about anything. Alcohol, on the other hand... always reliable. I prefer the "blunt" high. Something to shush the mind rather than make it race.

@Dovydas Simulynas smoking weed can also give you multiple forms of cancer and there are people who have died of for example lung cancer from smoking just green. The intoxication itself from weed, the thc, cannot kill you no, but smoking still poses health risks no matter what you smoke.
