Pioneer is possibly the weakest nonrotating format in the game, tied with only Pauper. As such, it has several holes in what’s capable in the format when compared to other nonrotating formats. Today, we’re going to go over some cards that could be printed into the format and possibly have a positive impact. While there are tons of cards that could be printed into the format without breaking it, we’re looking for some of the most powerful cards that would have the best overall impact on the metagame, rather than random, unplayable commons.

I think they should allow black lotus into pioneer. As a treat
Guided Passage's first line of effect is "Reveal the cards in your library." I'd love to see some kind of 'Top 10 ridiculous card effects' as a lighter hearted video.
mono blue merfolk would be a great deck to exist in pioneer
tbh i think that lava spike is a little to good for pionner
I love how 3-4 of these are outdated to the point where one of them shouldn’t be on the list anymore I get it, things take a while to make especially with scripts, I just think it’s an interesting contrast

@@eulefranz944 Which makes sense, because the person making the videos is not the one making the scripts, as they’ve specifically stated to be inexperienced with the game as said in description.
I want a pili-pala reprint in pioneer so bad. Like lets go back to shadowmoor. Let me make infinite combo deck.

I think Snapcaster would be great for ux control. flash back a Thoughtseize, make Cling to Dust cheaper to recast, etc.

As someone playing 5c humans in explorer now that cavern of souls is legal, I would LOVE to get champion of the parish in as a one drop to go in next to my hopefull initiates

It's funny how there's a editor's note that says one thing, then another editor note immediately after telling you to disregard the previous one. Just so I'm clear isn't the only real difference between Lightning Bolt and Lava Spike is that you can use Bolt during your opponent's turn?

Lava spike only hits players and planeswalkers ,whereas bolt hits any target.

Lava Spike can’t touch creatures. That’s the big thing.

Lava Spike can't remove creatures and burn. Lightning Bolt can. So Bolt acts as removal for some early creatures and a finisher late game, which would be too strong in midrange. Spike only burns so it can't be used in midrange very well since its basically a dead draw early for midrange

There are ZERO cards that should be printed into Pioneer. If they want them in Pioneer, put them in a Standard set.

Somethimes there are cards too strong/weak for standard but not pioneer due to maybe a lack of counterplay or synergies in that rotation. For example Rites could be awful in standard if all the creatures were terrible targets. Or too strong in this rotation with Atraxa & Ealti
