Fun fact: Azula's fourteen. Really puts that breakdown into a whole new perspective, doesn't it? She's as messed up as she is because of Ozai, and in that moment, she's angry. She's scared. She's shattered. All this time, she's been being told by Ozai that she'll gain ultimate power if she helps him take over the world, but then he slaps her in the face. By crowning her firelord, but then crowning himself king of the world, he betrays her trust by giving her nothing more than a basically meaningless title and sends her into an increasingly unhinged downward spiral until she breaks. And she breaks when it's not even Zuko who defeats her: it's KATARA, the little meaningless waterbender from the Southern water tribe that she saw as nothing more than just cannon fodder. TLDR: Avatar is a BRILLIANT show.

She's _technically_ 14 in canon, but as far as I'm concerned, that's in name only. In my opinion, it was a mistake to claim she was so young. 14 year olds don't act like that, no matter how they've been raised. Azula was far more cunning, vicious, ruthless, and mature than she would have any right to be at that age. Not to mention the fact that she just doesn't _look_ 14

Ok but for real though, I've never had a problem with Discord moderators. In my experience the people that have problems with moderators are usually dicks who are assholes to everyone and who break the rules, and not even unfair ones. AKA people who deserve to be banned. I would have put him at top spot for being so menacing; his reputation precedes him and he manages to deliver on the evil, surpass it even, and be really threatening. The Beast is definitely the most antagonistic villain on this list, going so far as to challenge your humanity and take advantage of your innocence. But since we are going for overall enjoyability instead of just sheer evil and terror, Aku simply cannot be beaten with his GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS!

@メガロMegalon I wouldn't say it's "overrated" so yeah... "underrated". Outside of fans and word of mouth, the show doesn't get a lot of promotion, and even the fandom is comparatively small. You have to go out of your way to find stuff about Over the Garden Wall, references to the show don't just pop up in mainstream internet the way something like JoJo or Undertale does/did.

I am pretty sure they would all annoy each other. Discord does nothing but fuck with people. So I am pretty sure that Bill would not want to be near him.

Azula was a heartbreaking character. She was a neglected child who needed special attention. She was a dangerous, brilliant and terrefying woman. Everytime she appeared on screen, you knew something bad would happen. Not how or when, but only that it would. Most memorable villain.

Slade just has this... presence that makes him scary as a villain.

One favorite of mine is David Xanatos from Gargoyles. He is manipulative, smart, devious, dangerously curious, and has backup plans on top of backup plans. He is rich enough to enact his plans, but knows how to get physical if need be. He thinks most of the time rather than getting angry, he is an undercover danger, and seems to do it all just because he can. And yet, he has a conscious. He has helped to save the Gargoyles, his wife, his assistant, and Manhattan a couple of times, sometimes without there being a benefit. He isn't outright vicious and has the dimenor of a good guy. Good video but also, NO HONOURABLE MENTION FOR SHREDDER!?!? Excellently done, though.

Xanatos is still one of my favorite cartoon villains. I love his character arc and his voice acting is great.

Though while I did like Discord quite a lot as a villain, I honestly think he's at his best when he stops being one and instead becomes more of a chaotic neutral character, constantly messing with the ponies as much as he thinks he can get away with yet also works as a sort of trickster mentor for them, teaching them lessons in weird roundabout ways while always being an entertaining character doing it.

He was chaotic neutral all throughout the series, the only thing that changed was his consideration towards others. As sabre said, his demeanor resembled that of a bored child. He did whatever he wanted to, he didn't care about others in the slightest. The problem was that his way just happened to be harming to others.

Dang... I just realized how GOOD Wander Over Yander and Gravity Falls was... the story, the villains, and craziness was all good! Also, Mark Hamil is a GREAT Joker actor.

Nox from Wakfu is an amazing, creative, and surprisingly likeable villain, But he never loses his evilness, even when you feel like sympathising with him

The Beast from the OTGW deserves more praise tho. He is just... different than others. You barely see him, but when he finally appear, you just feel this eldritch, almost-lovecraftian feel of dread.

I honestly love discord. He's literally a cartoon version of q from star trek, which is even more amazing because they're both played by the same actor

I like Bill Cipher mostly his hilarious voice by Alex Hirsch and his overall tone as Saber said, an angry but kind of bored adult. I also didn’t notice that Discord’s personality was also based off of Q in Star Trek, who voices Discord here. I think his state as a neutral character being both an antagonist or a protagonist makes him a fun character to play around with. Bill will always be my favorite though.

Bill Cipher wouldnt like sharing the spotlight. Slade would just let the predictability of the other villains work in his favor or make a short term mutually beneficial relationship til he gets what he wants. But I can imagine Cipher would be like, ok I don't really have a reason to screw you over BUT IMMA DO IT ANYWAYS.

Actually I see a fun comedic angle with Aku, the red guy from Cow and Chicken, Him from Powerpuff Girls, Beelzebub from Darkwing Duck, and of course the main villain from that Halloween special from The Angry Beavers that had the voice actor of Professor utonium in it

Slade was the first cartoon character I actually feared. Theres still a small part of me that get scared when he whispers.

Skeletor is just papyrus but evil. Like, the voice and the laugh are spot-on. love you son

I love how doofenshmirtz being a villain but at the same time a great father, all of his inventions about inator is just how he could base on his heart breaking backstory of his childhood, every episode we seen him grow and grow, also while he had those terrible childhood i am very impressed about how he's not treating Vanessa that way except he's protective and a loving father. Literally his name translates to fool in pain, im glad that doofenshmirtz grew a lot and improved his personality.

i feel like not enough people take into account the fact that azula is only 14 during the show

Haven’t watched it yet but my favorite cartoon villain is Slade from Teen Titans because they took a cliche vendetta-against-the-heroes comic book character and somehow made him even more sinister while also making him seem like he’s more in the grey area even though he’s supposed to be one of the more important villains. He’s just so dark, twisted and perfect... How they managed such a deep and complex character in a kids show, i’ll never know. Well, that’s the magic of Teen Titans for you.

He is also a really smart bad guy. With every chance he took advantage of everyone's weeknesses. For example, look at Terra. Yeah everybody hates her for her betrayal but prior of that she was an insecure girl. Slade exploited that by making her his new apprentice and work for him as a spy to Teen Titans.

My personal favourite villian is bill. I just love his design even though it is very simple. I love his personality, he likes to play with his pray but he's also really fun and interesting also y'all can tell me if im being weird but he's kinda cute, his design has that cartoony thing where it makes him look kinda cute lol

I love chaotic characters in general. the motivation there is so simple, but so hard to fight or deal with. it also leads to some great situations, because when chaos rules anything can happen

anyone else watching this during COVID-19 die laughing 10 seconds into the video?

I personally always loved Father from KND. Like, everything about him. The way he acts, how he changes from classy, calm mystery villain to enraged mad man in a matter of seconds. Also his sarcastic side is a gift. What makes this character memorable is his voice, it's like, imprinted in my mind forever. Father's va Maurice Lamarche did such an amazing job, whenever Father appeared he just sent shivers down my spine. I also love how deep he is, what he represents is what makes this character for me. Y'know trope of villains being evil for sake of being evil can be played out well but... oh and villains "i had a sad past and that's why I'm gonna punch ya in your face now" are pathetic for me. Father on the other hand is like, a perfect mix of both of these tropes and I just love this character so much cuz of that.

Discord was such a good villain. I loved the way he mocked "the power of friendship" in a show were friendship was EVERYTHING

The show goes to such great lengths to well, show the viewers how much suffering Aku brought to not just the world, but the ENTIRE universe, and how many lives were ruined under the demon's rule for probably THOUSANDS of years. Aku isn't some weekly villain that tries again and again to succeed but fails endearingly. He is a villain that already won and is FIGHTING to maintain that status.

If you're looking for a villain with good range and interesting character, I'd recommend The Hacker from Cyberchase. For a show on PBS, he was a real villain. You wanted to see him fail, but there was that charm all good villains have that made you, deep down, want to see him succeed. He could be dastardly or comedic or both depending on his motivations and the plot of the episode. His voice actor gave the character a great range as well.

Discord is probably one of my favorite villains as well Specifically from cartoons. Anime and movies are a whole different story). Azula, Bill Cipher and Slade are on that list as well.
