Yes early TOOL. LOUD MEAN AND ANGRY. Let's go. ✌️
David, this is from 1992 so there's no Justin. The bassist is Paul D'Amour
Great reaction, David. One correction: for this EP "Opiate" (1992)....(their debut release), and their first LP "Undertow" (1993) Justin wasn't with the band yet. They had their original bass player, Paul D'Amour. After "Undertow" he left and I think just before they started making their 2nd LP "Aenima" is when Justin joined the band and that's how it's been with Tool since then....that was their only lineup change in the 30+ years of their existence. You should do a reaction to the whole "Opiate" EP. I know that would be a long video but I'd watch it. I'm sure alot of the others in the fan base would do so. Take care, stay safe, best to the Mrs. 🤘
They play the song Cold & Ugly right before this song in the same live set. It's my favorite back-to-back Tool songs ever.
Best Maynard scream ever

@@dan.j.boydzkreationz also a really good one on Bottom
This was recorded in the Green Jello loft. If you don’t remember them, they had to change their name to Green Jelly. Their big hit was 3 Little Pigs. It’s one of the greatest videos to ever grace MTV. Danny played the drums and Maynard was the voice of one of the pigs.
Great reaction vid as always David. Agree on the punk vibe. A bit of that on that album Album's a banger. Angry Maynard days. Good times 😆🤘🏼
Maynard's scream of DIEEEEEEE, should have pushed up two points my brother. 60 here, heard everything, Tool is my fav all time. You have given me a whole other perspective of their music because of your background. Thanks for that. More please-"Right in Two" from 10,000 Days.
Nice TAKE, David. I love EARLY TOOL. ✌️
Ah, back in the early days of Tool... when they wrote songs under 5 minutes in 4/4 😎
Hey Dave yes this is in 4/4 and yes they are subdividing their arses off...Danny is just slaying it and I like Adam's guitar work and as usual Maynard delivers like only he can..great track thx man ✌️🤘👍
Amazingly this is one of the first released tool songs and was released in ‘92 You should actually do this whole album (opiate), it holds the shortest tool songs in existence but there all bangers (6songs total well there is a secret track) And Justin is not around yet, it’s a dude named Paul D’Amour.
Nothing wrong with an 8.8. A high great song and I'm okay with it. Enjoyable song, really liked it.
It's crazy to think Paul gave TOOL it's bass sound and he didn't even enjoy it lol.
Are you going to the ACDC concert on October 7th at the Empire Polo Club?

So far no.
The Opiate EP is the shit. I love the other albums but damn this hits hard.
For 30 + years, this song has been the song most likely to get me a speeding ticket while driving!!!!
This is the Tool I like...great energy. And Maynard was at his peak on the first EP lol
Great reaction 👍
Nice reaction
My favorite track from Opiate!
Hey David! Please can you review the song The Bee from Amorphis? A lot of reaction videos for this song on youtube, I would like to see yours!
Even though there's much to unpack with FI, Opiate gets higher replay value for me. Tool was on point out of the gate!
It’s the accent on the cymbals that do it. It’s a great technique imo.
Favorite tool song ever....
If you think Maynard is angry here, try listening to "Hooker with a Penis".
Extended version live is even better
Love angry Tool. Amazing how tight they are playing live. Yes, not many 4 4's by them.
Great song
Yeah old TOOL is the shit! I hear you though, The Grudge is on my top 3 too.
Te recomiendo hacer una reaccion a la canción Opiate del mismo álbum🤟
👍🤘
They were pretty punky back then. You’re not wrong in saying that.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👏
This is off of their first album. With their first bassist. Imo they were more aggressively angry in those days. Coming straight forward with the anger and frustration. Their later music to me (starting with aenima) is a different more introspective and productive anger, rather than just lashing out so to say.

This isn't even from their first album, this is from their EP Opiate

@@franniefromvenice that is the album I was referring to. I just couldn't remember if it was ep or lp so I just call it their first album.
I forgot how angry this track is
This album is fire. Such complexity at an extremely infantile stage to morph into what we all know now as an adult version.
thank god the band evolved into something more substantial than this angsty pseudo grunge band.

I mean I agree, but that’s pretty dismissive of a cool song.
