I was already hooked on Tool before attending this, my first Tool concert. Then I was hooked for life. Still probably the best show I've ever been to.

I saw them on this same tour by themselves when I was 18 or 19. They did all these plus the long version of Pushit before anyone had ever heard it. I already loved them but that show literally changed me. I’m 44 now and I’m not getting off the train until it stops. They’re just too good✌️

This is sort of when Maynard was beginning to move himself into the shadows. But a fvckin tremendous sound they put out at this point! Neil Peart just rolled over and tipped his proverbial hat to Danny. Outstanding.

August 9, 1998 in Nola. Best concert I’ve ever been to out of 70+. Second leg of the Aenima tour and they were so tight. I’ve seen them 9 times since. I don’t care what anyone else says…this right here in this video is TOOL’s peak time, their prime state. And yes, it was before Lateralus.

Saw Tool in 2001 but this era and back are on another level Maynard wise. The guys get better with age especially Danny Octopus Arms Carey. Great set list and Tool were on 🔥 this night 👏🏽♥️

I was there. First TOOL show and I knew them but became forever hooked after that.

@tinapuleo1233 I remember they tried to air condition the tents. They'd turn on these massive AC units and tried to close the flaps on the tents. But they only turned them on right before an artist went on. From J5's first show ever to Cornelius to Lamb, the tents were amazing that first year.

How did you get the sound so good? I was too young to see Tool at this time, but I did manage to see A Perfect Circle in Australia back in 2011 I think. My friend made me leave mid set, and I am still upset about that. Thanks for posting this, something for those born too late to have heard peak Tool/APC. Plus is that James Iha on guitar? One of my guitar idols!

I was there! The first 2 times i saw Tool were in 97 . Lollapalooza and Santa Barbara Bowl. Maynard was in a suitcase and dressed like a woman!

@@ImaginalComponent Longer songs were made. All Fear Inoculum. Cheaper tickets? Yeah, I wonder how much control they had with their shitty label having control likely. They simply asked since day 1 for full creative control. So they likely lost control over certain things. Which is why they've been waiting to complete their contract. I think touring was their last thing on the list after the album release. Now we'll likely see music sooner, more reissues, etc. I wish all new merch was available online. Oh and they took long due to lawsuits, other legal issues, label crap basically.

At Coachella? I guess there was a time when this festival had a pair of balls.

One strange thing I just noticed about intolerance. The song itself is mocking like Marxist ideology weaponized tolerance or repressive tolerance. Somewhat indirectly

I was there for this show and it was epic. RATM played that night too! The guy and girl hanging upside down was classic. This was the very first Coachella and it was a very good festival back then.
