I love the fact that Tommy has so much fun when he plays....you can see it in his face and feel it in his vibe...!
This is a completely different version, presentation, interpretation from the other video, with three Sultans, and the Bassist, and percussionist. Tommy brings out the best from whoever he plays with. He’s God’s gift to the world.
I just stopped this and thanked the world for giving us this media. We are so lucky to be able to watch and hear these great people anytime we want. I for one remember the not to distant past when only a veritable handful of people in any one place would have the honor of seeing performers of this caliber. For many, including me, it was a once in a lifetime experience. Like seeing Chet live or Jim Croce just before his tragic accident. Now I only need to punch a few buttons and presto, I'm enjoying things like this. Just how damn lucky are we?

A.J. Green, this is a treat. I have always wondered if a master of one genre, finding himself as a young man again, couldn’t have become a wonderful artist in another genre. Imagine Jimi, Eric, or SRV as a classical or flamenco artist. Imagine Segovia or Bream playing blues or rock guitar. This video is about as close as we will ever get to answering those questions.
Tommy and Pedro have such amazing chemistry when playing together. I see two boys just hanging out and just having the time of their lives. Truly fills my heart with joy listening and watching their performances!
Mark if you ever doubted that your tongue in cheek piece was a classic, I think this performance confirms it!
C' est irréel... C'est...je ne trouve pas les mots, c' est tellement beau !
These chaps embody talent, enthusiasm and fun. Bravo!
Tommy is the best musician/ entertainer on the planet. !!!..He brings joy to the world.!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!
Ben listening to Tommy for over 25 years… always amazed. Helluva showman!
Gonzalez, is one of those rare guitar players man. Legendary. I guess in the central USA he it seems more known among other pro and amateur guitar players more than the general public.
That was incredible. Their rhythm, I articulation, creativity, and pure joy is just legendary
I have recently discovered Tommy E and my world has become much brighter. If anyone knows Tommy E tell him this. I think it would make his day also. He plays to bring joy to people i read. Its worked on me. Keep up the good work Tommy E.

He's considered the finest acoustic guitarist of all time 😳🎸👍. Uses a Maton (Australian) guitar. Check him out covering Classical Gas.....his guitar went to rehab after that one!!!
Two maestros,two styles,weaving,bending,bringing it to a crescendo,and backing out,gently. I would think Mark would have a smile,on his face. Masterclass.
What magical raw talent and skills 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽...Hats off to these legends. Still watching in 2023😎🤙🏽
Making that song look easy or effortless and full of fun......Best thing I've ever seen!
That song never gets old. Knopfler the genius who wrote it. Dare i say it, these two take it to the next level.
Pedro is a total master of his art as is Tommy.
Absolutely mastering and enjoing!
Pedro is absolutely brilliant - as is Tommy...

Michael Bentley I agree, Tommy was very aggressive in his leads. Stuffing to many notes in...both have the right to say they are excellent guitar players
Who could possibly downvote this? Amazing talent right there.

Of the thousands of us who loved this masterful performance of a great song, there could easily have been a dozen or so who were either so bedazzled by the brilliance or just high on something that they accidentally or unknowingly pressed the dislike icon.
Absolutely fanatastic! Thanks so much for sharing it!
oh my 3 favorites. Always a pleasure listening to them. Thanks Cristobal

Ken Hawkins,you might be on to something there brother lol I’ve often wondered how many of those OO/OM Matons Tommy has worn out over the years lol when I seen him with billy strings a couple years back the little Maton Tommy was playing had quite a bit of pick wear on the top,and I know he has to go thru some frets too lol

Isnt this technally stealing his song
@chazspleen
4 жыл бұрын
@@woomi177 Nope. Its called respect. Something many talented musicians and composers will never get. Saw Tommy Emanuel in 2009. He opened the show with a scorching version of Mason Williams' Classical Gas. I've seen Mason do it live before, too, but Tommy took it to the stratosphere. That's love and that's respect. Tommy is a humble musician who takes pieces from great composers and spins them into tapestries of his own ferocious playing. Its a type of collaboration. Not stealing. Stealing, is vanilla ice biting off a riff written by Queen's Bassist John Deakon and claiming that he wrote it himself.

@riplstrip I do not agree at all. I guess you do not play the guitar. You do realize, I hope, that for most of this it is taking 2 of them to do what he alone does......that is why it sounds so empty. There is some rhythm guitar fill but mostly it is the two of them trying to do what he alone accomplishes. I hope you also realize that he composed it and sang it.....copyists are a dime a dozen. People would pay millions to see Mozart perform.....people will pay 20 bucks to hear a copyist PLAY it just as well.
@erepsekahs

@riplstrip HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a wonderful joke. As you know KNOPFLER wrote THIS that these 2 turkeys can COPY. and neither one of then can play it fluidly and clearly as he does and did..they have to share the task. Knopfler WROTE this and sang it both on record and live. You are a complete joke. I thank you for showing the IGNORANCE of a clown who cannot play the guitar....and probably any other instrument than the Pink Trombone.
WOW, JUST WOW!!!!!!
