Yeah, and he's the big swingin' d!@k in the locker room. He's an amazing ambassador for the art of music. Does meet and greets before shows. Brings kids up on stage to play often. I think he's officially Billy String's uncle now. Great all around guy.

Only God knows how many times I've watched this.

I have watched this possibly 100 times. I am a bedroom vanity guitar player. Been playing for 50 years but I am not talented. So for me I just love the masters at work. I think that in order to appreciate genius you have to understand what players like this are doing. They are doing it.

Pedro is from Spain, John is from USA, Tommy is from Australia this masterpiece rendition is a marvelous proof for "The only best language in the world is music" :D

This video never fails to impress me - Pedro is definitely in the driver's seat - he sets the tone and the meter. Tommy kicks in with some rhythm, John kicks in with a beautifully light instrumental, after that, Pedro and Tommy take turns with the lead, and then all three join in with a powerful rhythm to finish the song. It is interesting to note that Pedro is actually communicating visually with Tommy - they evidently have some sort of system - it appears to be almost telepathic. Any any rate, the musicians quickly pick up on each other's cues. This is the mark of a true musician. This is the definitive version of Sultans of Swing. Thanks!

@@mailander2911 Well, I can't say that I don't like the way Pedro plays; he is a master of his craft. But I do get a very different sense from Tommy and JJ in the way they view their contributions to the whole. Maybe that's because I know them; I don't know Pedro. I do know that Tommy and JJ are always mindful of supporting their co-performers, and that's very evident in this masterpiece.

Correct, very smooth, I often watch it 4/5 times in a row! Timeless, with three totally different techniques that, for the most part ( take the ego's out towards the end), blend flawlessly.

Tommy Emmanuel is absolutely amazing! How humble he is and such fun to play, like a boy that just owned his first guitar. It will be a dream to watch Tommy and MK playing together

7 million views ... I've listened to this at least 50000 times. And i'll never get enough of it.

Loved Sultans all my life and seen many great versions of it... but I was today years old when I found this one and have to say, it's the best. Truly amazing.

This is about the 110,000th time I have listened to this. Admittedly, it's now starting to wear somewhat thin.

Amazing performance by all five musicians! This performance also underscores Mark Knopfler's genius as a guitarist/composer - Each of these three master guitarists have their unique touch and tone,but they all stay close to the original structure of the tune. Almost all the melodic figures/riffs (even a lot of the little grace notes) can be heard on the original Dire Straits version. Even though the lyrics to the song are great too, Sultans has become an instrumental classic that stands well on the music alone. This one is a fantastic example!

That percussion and bass was done so softly and beautifully... and complemented these two brilliant guitarists... I suspect we'll never run out of such brilliance... there are others using finger style playing.. but this was? Pure class

A joy to watch Pedro and Tommy play together. And Nick Nolte did well on the strat too.

Pedro Javier amazing!! The Spanish guitar playing come from the sadness that there people went through. That's the difference between him & Tommy Make no mistake Tommy is one off the best in world. I had the privilege of meeting Tommy @ the Sydney Harbour side brasserie. You cannot beat that Spanish sound!!! The guitar was born in Spain & It's sound was from their pain. God bless Spain.

Lesson in life: do what you love, love what you do, and enjoy who you do it with. Look at these guys. This was no mechanical performance. It was pure joy.

Sultans of Swing is a masterpiece in it's own, and this is a great acknowledgment of the song by Dire Straits.

And the bass player tucked over on stage right holding the floor down like a boss!

Sultans of Swing, specifically the version from Alchemy, is my favourite song of all time. This. Was. Astonishing. I never thought anyone could cover that version (studio version is another story) and do it justice, but here we are.

The joy on their faces while playing is priceless!

I love Tommy! Wow! One can feel his passion with every guitar play. So much talent on one stage!!!

I love 3 grown men being so playful and yet so focused! Tells me more than a thousand words!

I’m overwhelmed and on my knees every time I come back to this .. much gratitude to the composer, the musicians, the video clip and the post (🙏🏽) and all those who have appreciated this absolute gem ✨

We're lucky to have been born to watch their playing in our life.

I've never seen someone preform so passionately. He waited and met everyone and was so polite and kind. Always smaller venues and cheap tickets. What a true legend

Tommy is so generous here letting the other players shine ..he is really the child genius he always was....I met the guy once in Western Australia late one night. I said "I love you man" and held out my hand ...he shook it and said " I love you too man." I said..'no dude...you are a genius...you are a freak.." he laughed and we parted ways.. He has ALWAYS been able to listen to a piece of music and then play it perfectly, immediately after hearing it..he has been able to do this since the age of 9yrs....the guy is a Guitar Beethoven.

Three guitar geniuses having a BLAST, getting to playfully “show off” for each other AND a lucky audience!

Besides the amazing performance of this great song, I love the facial expressions of Pedro González!

This needs to become a UNESCO World Heritage video. It gives me faith in humanity.

Extraordinaire. Love to watch the nonverbal communication between the musicians. They all recognize they are among their peers!

I e been in the music industry for over 20 years doing security . I've seen many musical acts . Huge names and unknowns. But this is by far my most favorite part of this industry. Legendary music performed by other legendary musicians with their own flair. SO SWEET IT IS !!!! BRAVO TO THEM.

Have watched this an insane number of times. Truly astonishing world class performance. Will stand the test of time.

WOW! To play such electric lead guitar runs with THAT accuracy, speed and tempo on an ACOUSTIC, shows just how excellent guitarists these men are. Tommy has more facility, as he plays this style more often, but Pedro as a trained classical guitarist, shows just how much skill he has as well. Such a wonderful surprise; AND has me appreciating the tune even more. How much were THEY enjoying it?

Leaving bass players loveless since the 16th century

The Guitar Gods from Mount Olympus have come down to entertain us mere mortals.

They are all mesmerizing to watch and they are not trying to outdo each other. However Emmanuel is extraordinary and is the obvious amongst these equals. I just keep replaying it and never tire of it. Beautiful performance. And complete acknowledgement to Mark Knopfler for this brilliant piece of music
