Tip for a 2001 Toyota 4Runner thermostat

Tip for the 2001 Toyota 4Runner thermostat the gasket that came on it. It was too small. The gasket that came with the water pump for the thermostat was the right size. If your thermostat is leaking you may have this problem. My videos are for entertainment purposes only.

@@texasnow3511 There are at least four different part numbers listed for the thermostat gasket for this car. I had the one that came with the kit and leaked and then I bought one from Amazon which was too loose-fitting and got pushed out from one side, and finally, the one that worked was FEL-PRO p/n #38445. While I was struggling with problem I noticed the previous owner had used Permatex sealer to get around this problem. Thank you again your post showed what the real problem is and how to correct it, otherwise, I would have gone the permatex route. people like you make KZread such a great resource.

Also..make sure that jiggle valve is in the 6 o’clock position per Toyota. It will run 10+ degrees hotter in the 12 o’clock position.
