Very thorough and accurate way to replace your 3rd Gen 4Runner radiator and thermostat. I tend to take a lot of short cuts but it’s nice to see someone do it the way a Toyota Mechanic would. Thanks nice presentation.

How did you clean your engine so well? Can you do the video on the cleaning?

Thank you for the kind comment. While it’s been many months since your comment, I do plan on making a video on the steps I take in cleaning / detailing my engine bay. Keep an eye out! Thanks for watching!

...very nice DIY video on rad replacement....I've gotta do it soon on my 2000 4Runner.....how did you get the engine bay so clean? What rubber/plastic conditioner did you use?.... 🙂

Thank you! I clean the engine bay in a very old fashion way. I use basic soap, water, and microfiber to clean any excessively dirty hoses or areas. I used compressed air and brushes for tight and small spaces to get loose dirt out. I then use Meguiars Natural Shine protectant on all surfaces with a microfiber. I do this every 2/3 weeks and it’s very easy to maintain!

For the sender and return lines, would you need to ad any ATF fluid, or is the tiny amount that gets lost from removing those lines not an issue? Thanks!

Great question, I forgot to cover this in the video. The little that I lost wasn’t an issue in my replacement. However, I did check the level and top off after the swap was completed. It wasn’t much at all, but better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching!

Did you order the radiator through the mail or buy it locally? I am curious on potential damage.

I ordered the Radiator from what used to be known as McGeorge Toyota in Richmond. It is now Ourisman Toyota. When I ordered the parts, I found the prices to be very fair. The experience was great, shipping fast, and parts arrived without damage. Thanks so much for watching!

Great video & thanks, I did my 99 3.4 liter 4runner last week & followed the video step by step. I didn't realize I got a different Toyota OEM Thermostat part# 90916-03120 by mistake since it said for 4runner/Tacoma too. This part is for 2.7 liter 4runner, but compatible with 3.4 liter Tacoma as stated on specs. I would assume it would not make a difference since the 3.4 liter Tacoma has the same engine as my 99 3.4 liter 4runner. The thermostat looks slightly different fits perfectly, but have no issues or leaks so far. It actually running smoother, better gas mileage & the temperature🌡️gauge looks like the same when reaching operating range. The OEM Thermostat on your video is compatible on all 3.4 liters 4runners/Tacoma. Any one here have any advice or should I replace it again with the recommended OEM Thermostat part# 30916-03075?🙋
