Honestly, the fact he made no effort to prevent the tragedy that ended human civilisation is my biggest gripe with this film. Even if it would have created a paradox and thus couldn't have been stopped, he could have at least tried it _once_ just to see if it would have worked. Not only could he have potentially saved the billions of innocents who died horribly in the disaster, but he would have saved the countless others who were hunted like animals by the Morlocks over the proceeding 800,000 years.

What if he did and because of the paradox, he couldn't remember. And because he couldn't remember, it seemed as if it never happened. Thus, the continuum does not see the change or attempt.

How the hell could he stop it? Intercept the demolitions crew before they're sent to the moon? He'd be blown away by the future paramilitary forces.

He could, but no matter the effort you can not change the universe (timeline) itself. You might change the course yet the outcome will always be the same one way or the other.

We know very little about time. Its as likely he would’ve created an alternate timeline separated from the main timeline, the people still would’ve died and who knows. His time traveling technology could’ve fallen into the wrong hands fracturing stable time as we know it; causing even more death. The whole point of the film runs on the premise that no matter how hard Alexander tries to save the person he loves, she still dies. Hence why he asks the librarian why he can’t change the past. The librarian answers, *because one cannot travel back into time* not meaning he cannot physically do it. The answer is that no matter how hard he tries, the past is gone. Those moments you hold onto, you’ll never experience again. The people you knew, gone forever. Everything he had and held dear. They only exist in memory. It’s why that Morlock leader at the end says *we all have our time machines* he’s referring to memories and past experiences. If you knew what was going to happen, life bears no fruit. The moments mean nothing. If you could manipulate the fabric of space and time to your desire, well then you have everything. But having everything is it’s own Hell. Genesis 12:1: "Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee." God called Abraham. Abraham, a man who lived under his fathers house without want or need; a man of meager faith. God: “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing." Gods purpose in calling Abraham was to recover man from sin and Abraham at 75 years old ventures into the land of Canaan. He leaves his townhouse, his blissful ignorance, his midlife crisis and gives it up for a life of trial. He lives in a tent and becomes homeless, he gives up everything for the adventure he had so yearned for, he so desired, and in doing so he found the thing he was always wanting and missing. Alexander had everything, that is why at the end of the film he destroys the Time Machine and chooses to live a life full of trial and suffering. He gives up everything for a new life. He is called to the adventure of his life and he lives it. He finds it more appealing than endlessly chasing time. I do not doubt with his help he rescues man from sin, from the Morlock (or even unites the two races). It’s why he killed the Morlock leader, because he was a representation of the devil calling him into his own blissful ignorance. To chase time endlessly; hoping for a different result or a better outcome. To live in the past so to speak. Except Alexander knew nothing he could do would change the past, even if he were successful; it would never be the same. I’m not religious in the biblical sense, but I believe the story about God calling out Abraham answers your question. He wasn’t meant to save Humanity just as Moses wasn’t meant to save the Egyptians from the plagues or wrath of God.

A "Time Machine Reverse" is not a concept or term typically used in science or physics. However, it seems like you might be referring to the idea of reversing time or time travel in the context of science fiction or theoretical physics. In science fiction, time travel is a common theme, and various stories and movies explore the concept of going backward or forward in time. In popular culture, time machines are often depicted as devices that can facilitate time travel, allowing individuals to visit the past or future. It's essential to note that time travel, as described in science fiction, is purely speculative and not currently supported by our understanding of physics. According to the laws of physics as we currently understand them, such as Einstein's theory of relativity, traveling backward in time is considered highly unlikely or even impossible. If you have specific questions or ideas related to time travel or reversing time, please provide more context, and I'd be happy to discuss them further.

Nearly everyone thinks time is fixed and moves at the same pace everywhere. This is not true. In a gravity well (like at sea level here on earth) time passes at a slower rate than say, in orbit around the Earth, which affects satellite's GPS for example. The difference is small by our standards but has to be adjusted for or the GPS signal will be out. In a greater gravity well time can pass much more slowly. Watch the movie Interstellar for an example, or check for yourself at any reputable physics department.

  • @davidhunter1538

@@LoveHandle4890 Yes. If you get in a space ship and travel at a good percentage of light speed, time slows down for the travelers and the people remaining behind will be unaffected. So when you return everyone you knew will be much older than you. Once again see Interstellar for a pretty good example. It's Einstein's relativity you see.
