Rule number one: star ships NEVER go into warp so close to the gravity well of a planet!!

I think the BOP in ST4 would disagree. The last time it left 20th century Earth.

In the 23rd century that problem has been fixed. Ahead, warp 6>>>>In Star Trek IV the Voyage Home a Bird of Prey started warp maneuvers in earth's atmosphere as it headed towards the sun.

Too much fluff beforehand (an entire minute in fact) the Enterprise was in view for twenty seconds then gone to warp followed by more uselessness at the end.
