It's hilarious that they all unanimously agreed to do a ridiculous time sped up bit without telling each other about it first and Leonard doesn't question it at all and says that was fun, which gets everyone to agree without a hint of hesitation. True friend group goals there.

2:33 Fun Fact: According to the Star Trek Guide given to writers for the original series, Stardates are completely arbitrary numbers with no consistent system in place to have them correspond to actual dates. Even in TNG, the first number of the stardate simply meant what century, the second number was what season of the show it was and the remaining numbers progressed unevenly. So it's pretty much impossible to determine the exact of an event in Star Trek using just the Star Date. It's why in things like Voyager they don't say 'the treaty was signed in stardate blah blah', they give an actual year.

UNACCEPTABLE! The time machine didn't allow you to input a destination time, you moved forwards or backwards in time by moving the lever. The more you move it the faster you'll go. Also the lever's idle position is in the middle, not all the way forward. I know they're not really nerds in real life but this show seriously needed a consultant.

Hilarious....but on another nerdy note. They used the time machine wrong. The leaver stays centre you push the lever forward to go forward in time and back to go back. 😂 The disk was originally supposed to spin in both directions, but budget prevented it. It practically got trashed over the years, and was discovered in a thrift shop, where it was rescued and repaired.

That is correct, Temporal displacement has to take into account spacial drift. HG Wells' Time Sled however does address this problem by remaining anchored to its location, likely locking onto earth's core via its magnetic field. That's why it doesn't just teleport to a destination time, it has to move in all 4 dimensions at once to reach it.

Time is just a numerical system, which allows us to see how matter-energy degrades or moves. Time is independent of space and therefore, space is not affected by what time does, the space that is near the Moon, for example, has not been altered since the creation of the Universe. Given this disconnection between space and time, it is impossible to travel back in time. We do not travel forward in time, what we do is simply account for how energy and matter change with respect to themselves; We say that a day passed, but that is not true, what happened was that we counted how the sun went from one point to another and went to a new state with respect to itself. Space is curved by the interaction of energy-matter, but space to be able to interact with matter-energy, and matter-energy to be able to interact with space, must have properties that are dependent; but they must also have independent properties, one from another. This implies the impossibility and inability of time travel; since to "go back in time", we would have to have matter-energy-space be one thing; And it is not like that. Worse still, traveling backwards implies having a photograph of every atom in the universe and that implies having stored multiplications of the same universe, which is useless and redundant for the same universe. And even more so, it implies the problem of resurrecting what is already dead, since what was alive yesterday may not be alive today.

DAMN KZread! Deleted my comment. That was a reproduction prop. The original was damaged and restored. You can find the history of it on the Internet. I can't post the link or it gets deleted.

This time machine is a copy of the one from the 1960 film, 'The Time Machine.' I wouldn't be surprised if the one from Phineas and Ferb was inspired by it.

The prelude ruined the original show. They let Sheldon do too much maturing. They should too many trials and tribulations for the character to continue to be dignified being such an idiot. The laugh track kinda made it extra uncomfortable. It was funny once upon a time but we’ve seen him in serious soul searching and learning moments. Part of the OG show’s appeal was the cartoonish nature of a show resetting and that it’s just good old Sheldon that doesn’t really need to grow or learn anything. But now the audience has seen him grow and the laugh track becomes degrading.
