Timber Framed Barn Part 8 Framing Has Started!
It finally handed timber framing of the barn has started. However we had a change of plan. the tent we were going to work under was just not going to work. we could not pull the sheet tight in the wind and it was way to loud for filming. I decided to give up on that plan and rent a corner of a barn for a month. This ended up being a great decision as the weather has been really wet and windy.
In this video we get the small wall frame done.
Thanks to Howard and the team for there hard work. you can check out Howards website, Facebook and Instagram bellow

It's so encouraging to see people this young possessing skills like this. Wonderful! Great video!
So very heartwarming to see people with real skills and enthusiasm in this corporate world of mass production.
Today a substantial medieval barn, tomorrow a timber-frame homestead? Fantastic work lads and congrats on 500k ❤
There are not many teams like Howard and his squad around an absolute lesson in craftsmanship ….well done
thank you howard for allowing kris to film what you do! which is amazing to watch, and share it will all of us.
I love the fact you have such hard workers, with your drive for quality working with you! You certainly deserve to have help with this enormous project! Love your work, I’ve been following since the “tent” days! Congratulations on 500K!

Looking super nice. Great job to everyone working on this!
Truly informative! I needed a reference that highlighted basic wood frame construction methods & techniques where kzread.infoUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU were best. I am pleased with the depth and clarity of Ryan’s Shed Plans. It was really convenient to capture!
That was epic. 500 subs and a huge barn wall in one go. I can imagine, years from now, this barn standing in St. Fagans. Deserved.
Makes my little wood projects look really little. Fantastic work Kris & team.
Kris's videos are crafted as carefully as all his other projects, and he's happy to share it all with us. This episode must have been especially challenging, with the change in location and the large crew, but Kris managed to capture it all, and put in some serious woodwork.
I thought this could only be done in the medieval time! Beautiful job, impressed!
Hi kris well your barn build looks absolutely amazing. The carpenters really are showing of there skills what a joy to watch . Kris all I have seen of you is with a permanent giant smile on your face . You are in your element like a new dad with your baby I am so happy for you as you have spent weeks pouring over your plans and all that milling has paid of very hansomly it is going to be beautiful when it's fully built ,congratulations to you and your skilled carpenters
It is a delight to see master craftsmen at work. You could only work this hard if you loved your job. Saving a lost art has to be so satisfying.
Congrats on the 500k subs. Stunning craftmanship and fascinating to watch.
Carpentry at this level and scale is so beautiful and impressive. Excited to see this project take form.

Love watching this barn come together! Great work by all
Howard and his team are pure gold, great work and what joy to see the woodworking skills are alive and kicking.
Well done for your channel Chris. I'm an armchair timber framer and its a pleasure to watch craftsmen at work. Those scarf joints are a work of art 😃😃
That was absolutely fascinating to watch. It's good to know such craftsmanship is alive and well, congratulations on the 500k very richly deserved
Don’t you love it when a plan comes together. What a great group of craftsmen.
500K subs and an awesome start to the frame . Your smiling in this video says it all . Congratulations and loved seeing these guys work . Just great . Thanks for sharing and Cheers Ade.
When I first saw your barn plans I thought "bloody hell that's going to take Kris 2 or 3 years to build". Didn't realise you were getting the 'pros' in! Traditional timber framing is so satisfying to do, but I've not done a building as big as this monster. . Really enjoying the long format build videos mate. Good luck and be safe.
I'm flabbergasted that there is still anyone that carries on that type of carpentry - I certainly never see it anymore here in the west. Really pleasing to see.
This was a joy to watch, looking forward to more installments! Glad to see these traditional building methods being kept alive.
It is lovely to watch and listen to a tradesman at his craft. Keep up the fantastic work.
The very best video of building a timberframe.
Not often does one get a chance to see this work done in such detail Kris.... Thank you , much appreciated.
Thank you Chris. Really appreciate the hard work that goes into watching you all work hard. Very interesting!!!
In 1963 I passed my “O” level in woodwork…I was quite impressed with my effort. Oh my goodness, this guys must have passed their triple “A” level. I’m so impressed.
You and your team made my day Kris! Epic work! Timber framing is awesome! Your so lucky to have such amazing people building your dream! Your going to learn more on this build! Thank again 🎉!
Amazing to see how this is not just a functionally perfect building but also looking aesthetically outstanding as well! And wonderful craftsmanship to watch from the whole crew at TimberRoots plus Chris!

How it does my heart good to see a timber framed building being beautifully traditionally built!
This will be a beautiful building! I'm really happy seeing people building an old fashion stuff, not the modern cardboard bs that could stand just 10 years at most.
Howard and his crew are not only carpenters those guys are artists. Really awesome they are sharing their knowledge with you
Learned a lot watching this process. I can’t imagine the weight of that wall. Looks incredible
Great to see the barn evolving and your smiles say it all !
Another of your amazing talents is the ability to scale up projects. From a one man shop build to a five man fab crew. All leading up to a far superior product. This is a rare talent among the off grid community of strong, but independent minded individuals.

I often hear from so many that traditional trades are lost, im so glad to see they are wrong, just not looking hard enough, as a carpenter myself its great to see these old joinery's still going
Amazing that the old building techniques havent changed for centuries
Well that was just shy of 50 mins of perfect wet Friday eve viewing. A pleasure to watch craftsmen work their magic, and seeing the joy in your face Kris as it comes together is infectious. Gonna look amazing when its fully up and in comission.
Thank you for the video Kris - truly awesome - amazing project management and great to see how a timber framed building is manufactured - I was impressed by the attention given to accuracy - looking forward to the next stage. Many congratulations on the 500K subs - no mean feat.
the skill level in this one video is amazing to watch that includes all 5 individuals, and what makes it better is their ages (all young). it restores the idea that the younger generation is still willing to work skills by hand, sweat, and maybe tears at times...lol. beautiful craftsmanship, thank you kris for taking us along. also congratulations on 500,000 subs!!! well over due!
WOW, you must be absolutely over the moon excited!!! It's not even my timber frame and I'm beside myself with excitement for you! We're in the process of finalizing the design for our TF house and barn, and this is SO inspiring to see. You've got one hell of a crew there knocking out that job. Can't wait to see then next frame be cut.
Wow, How nice to see true craftsmen at their trade. Showing how it should be done. It puts the but jointers to shame.... 😄 👍👍
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING KRAFTSMANSHIP!!!! WHAT A KREW AND SO REASSURING TO SEE THERE IS SUCH IMPORTANT KRAFTSMANSHIP BEING HANDED DOWN, FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF JOINERY WOOD BUILDING. THE BEEFY BEAMS WILL STAND FOR CENTURIES.... WELL DONE TO YOU AND THE TEAM KRIS.

This is an EPIC building in the making. A mediaeval cathedral! Superb video of master craftsmen. These people are going to come into their own in the not too distant future!

Congratulations on your 500k Kris. Richly deserved. In this world depressingly stuffed full of trivia and narcissistic nonsense, it's truly refreshing and inspiring to spend time watching your endeavours and successes. Thank you.
Absolutely EPIC. I can't even begin to get my brain around the size of this barn fully assembled. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!

What you're doing here is so amazing. I don't even have the imagination to dream up such a grand project. It is blowing my mind!
Awesome skills and an absolutely riveting watch. I cannot wait to see more instalments. Good luck with it all.
Great video Kris! Those guys are pros, so they could handle minor variations on your milled wood. The pros use the ratchet straps- what an invaluable tool for all timber framers. These guys just reinforced the skills of planning and taking your time. But you have had and used the same skills for all of your video projects. You are the star in all of this. It is your hard work that allows you to highlight these timber crafters. The cheers go to you Kris!
Wonderful to see old crafts being used today. What a great bunch of workers.
Kris! Congratulations on 500k! Well deserved! What an excellent video today.
