Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum Specialists is international chain that started in 2009 in Hong Kong and in 2010 it earned a Michelin Star. It is known as the world's most inexpensive michelin starred restaurant. Like the name suggests they specialize in Chinese Dim Sum items. The Palms location opened up in 2019 but was shut down for 2 years due to the pandemic and has recently opened back up in the spring of 2022. Its located on the far west side of Palms by the west parking garage.
For our brunch today we tried out several of their dim sum items. This place does not push the traditional carts around carrying dim sum, but you they give you a sheet and penicl to mark off the ones you want. We ordered the Signature Pork buns for $7.95, Chicken Dumplings for $8.50, Beef Rice Roll for $7.50, Chicken feet for $6.95, Brisket Noodles for $13.95, Beef Meatballs for $6.95, Shrimp Har Gow Dumplings for $7.25, Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai for $7.25, Beef Short Ribs for $13.95, Fried Pork and Shrimp dumplings for $6.95, and for dessert we ordered the Milk Stick for $6.95, and Pumpkin Balls for $6.95. Total: $109.57 with tax and not including tip.
Most of the food tasted pretty decent, but some were better than others. And some were just okay. Their signature Pork Buns were good but also very sweet. The Beef Rice Roll lacked flavor and the Beef Meatballs did not have the right texture or balance of flavor. The Siu Mai were good and came out piping hot.
It is quite pricey for dim sum though and for the price I would expect everything to taste excellent. There are cheaper places in chinatown and Gold Coast/Rio that offer more variety and are definitely much better value for the money that you are paying. There is also a place called Dim Sum Cafe in Summerlin that I ate at recently and will be publishing a video of soon that we ordered almost the same amount of items and was half the price.
I do like the decor and how you can watch them cook the food with the open kitchen. Everything was clean and the service was good and the food came out quickly and hot.

We are locals and finally went today. I would say your review is very accurate. We as Chinese would say it's OK but Ping Pang Pong is the better option ( for the price conscious ). Your review showing the food up CLOSE was excellent. Also without the restaurant noise , the review was much more enjoyable. Showing the prices of each dish was good too ! Thanks !

Thank you so much!! I am Chinese as well so I've eaten alot of dim sum over the years, haha. My goal is to make a video of every dim sum restaurant in Vegas eventually. My most recent dim sum video is of this place called Dim Sum Cafe in Summerlin and I think that place has the cheapest dim sum in the entire city while still having good taste. My family also likes going to KJ Dim Sum in the Rio and Hong Kong Garden. I also like New Asian BBQ but that place is pretty expensive.

Another great review! Prices certainly are more than Gold Coast. My latest go-to for dim sum (served all day/evening!) is Hong Kong Gardens on Spring Mountain.

Hong Kong Gardens is a staple in the Chinatown area and I've been eating at that location since I was a small child. Its changed owners and names a couple times tho. It used to be called Cathay House back in the day. They used to serve dim sum in the carts but when I went there last time you ordered off the menu. It was still good though and I hope to make a video there in the future!

We went here the Christmas right before COVID and totally agree it was just okay! Especially for the prices! Dim Sum Cafe is one of my favorite spots in all of Las Vegas! The prices have unfortunately gone up there since Covid (as they have everywhere) but it's still way more reasonable than this place and just as good if not better. I can't wait to see your review. Their chicken & salty fish fried rice is my favorite fried rice in town. I also adore their beef tendon, been curd roll, shu mai, etc. We have the same taste in a lot of things!

Even with inflation I'm pretty sure Dim Sum Cafe is the cheapest dim sum in the entire city. We ordered like 10 different dim sum items there and the total was only $50. We paid double the price at Tim Ho Wan. And the food at dim sum cafe was definitely better too. I liked everything that I ate there and the food came out hot and fresh. I will definitely have to try out that fried rice next time! That sounds delicious. I've got a few other videos to publish first before I make my Dim Sum Cafe one. I'm way behind in my videos haha. If I was faster with my editing I could be making videos everyday haha.

I ate there on October 9, 2022 for my daughters Birthday. The food isn't all that good. Won ton soup had no taste, chicken feet was terrible, fried rice was bland, no taste. I dont know how people can eat there. I complained to manager and he took the items off the bill. If you are going to eat Chinese food especially Dim Sum go somewhere, please don't go to this restaurant at the Palms.

It stinks you had such a bad experience especially since it was your daughter's birthday! I'm glad they took some of the items off the bill at least and I agree that the food is expensive and some items aren't that great. Like I said in my video that the Beef Rice Roll didn't have much flavor and there are definitely cheaper and better tasting dim sum places in the chinatown area. I hope the rest of the day went better and you were able to end the birthday celebrations on a good note elsewhere!
