I went here in April near opening time. It was already packed! It was still packed and a waitlist when I left. It was a regular weekday too. Good food.

Same! I get so tired of getting to places early to beat the rush they claim to have on Yelp only to find I'm the only one there. But, NOT the case here. As with you we went on a Tuesday at 15 minutes prior to opening. There was already a line with others waiting in their cars for the doors to open. This was true on all three visits we made!

@@LetsEatVegas Their sink in washroom is unique lol. This must be one of the better dim sum places. I went to HK Dim sum in November 20022 near opening time, it was ppl there already but not packed but people just started coming in. I live in Chicago, our dim sum places are only very busy on weekends.

Oh yes, HK...we tried to go there near Chinese New Year last year and it was a 3 hour wait so we went to YAMA and had some excellent sushi. We did end up going to HK a few weeks later and they were having an off day. We hadn't starting doing reviews at that time so we may try them again this year.

@@LetsEatVegas I wonder if Ping Pang Pong, KJ at Rio and Tim Ho Wan was busy. It'd be easier waiting in those restaurants since it's inside the casinos. Very convenient.

Oh, I'm sure those places were mobbed as well. The big holiday days here cause all the Asian restaurants to be swamped. And, yes, I would definitely rather wait within one of the casinos than at HK. There isn't a comfortable area to wait in at HK! Plus at the casinos there are many distractions such as gambling tables and bars, 🎲🎲🍸🍹🍺, 😁😁

Hmmm, not too up on the best places to stay, but if you're looking to be off strip (but not too off strip) but closer to Chinatown maybe The Palms Casino Resort would be good? I'll ask some friends here and get back to you if I learn of a better option!

I haven't had much luck finding out about off strip places to stay. If you did elect to try The Palms it's right across the street from Gold Coast Hotel and Casino and we just reviewed another Dim Sum place there, Ping Pang Pong. So, if you were interested in New Asian BBQ for Dim Sum I would definitely consider Ping Pang Pong. The food was equally as good (if not better), the atmosphere was more relaxed, and the prices were better: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g61n3K19aK_ZnNI.html

Agreed! But prices are rising so quickly everything seems pricey now. It's hard to keep it all straight after doing so many reviews, but I believe DIm Sum Cafe was more reasonable: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6yHyrebkrbalLw.html as well as Dim Sumlicious: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6Botcmsn8-2cag.html Thanks for watching!

Hmm, I went to a pronunciation site when we did the first Dim Sum review a few months ago and it sounded as though they were saying "chow". But just now I went to two different sites and they are saying 'Char'. Great, good to know. Thanks! I hate to mispronounce words.

  • @algernon5776

@LetsEatVegas I am Cantonese and "chow" is an English/Chinese slang word most likely from the Chinese laborers from the late 1800s. The exact word "chow" in Chinese (Cantonese) is " Chao" meaning to fry or stir fry. Char Sui in America 🇺🇸 is pronounced with the "r" in Cantonese the "r" is silent and even in Japan you will see this roasted bbq pork referred to as Chashu lol. Yes it is confusing so I understand. As Paul Harvey said... and now you know the rest of the story. Go enjoy Yum Cha!!!
