There's one major exception: waterproof concealers that you would never actually want to use on your skin. My ELF Camo 16 hr Concealer (not the hydrating one!) is identical to my favorite eye makeup base (Profusion base in "neutral") in performance, but I prefer it because you get a LOT more for the price and a range of shades. BUT you won't catch me using it as a concealer. It's perfect on my oily eyelids but wretched on my dry face. Many waterproof concealers work better as eyeshadow primer than actual concealer because they dry down fast and don't budge. A foundation or concealer that looks good on your face and can still blend after 30 seconds will never be a good primer for eye makeup unless you don't need it to last (in which case even a thin layer of Vaseline works beautifully... Long enough to take pictures before your makeup melts off, why do I see this recommended as a base so often lol)

"Bless her" was probably the kindest thing you could've said about the woman with the "fusion method". This is equivalent to someone, somewhere around the world, having a brain wave about an amazing idea they've just thought of...a product that's electrical and toasts bread. They're probably going to be disappointed when they find out that amazing idea already exists and has existed for over a century. A lot of these TikTok hacks keep making the rounds like they're new and in reality, the content creators have just discovered them.🤦🏾‍♀️

let's ignore the fact that I seriously doubt peaches have follicles and all the other funny stuff our skin has... 🤔 if one applies a reasonable amount of product with a reasonable technique, building up the right coverage in thin layers, the skin texture, peach fuzz included, is normal and, dare I say, not unbearable at all ... slapping on a shitload of heavy concealer/colour correction/foundation/baking powder/setting/whatever else in a mask-like, 1inch thick layer of grout, on the other hand... eh... at some point I bet those thin hair will look like a bas-relief 😅

I have lots of blonde 'peach fuzz' and I feel it gives my face a softer edge, even though it's practically invisible, if you know what I mean. Which is what a lot of Japanese and likely other East Asian cosplayers use that dont use natural looking eyebrows (Like think of vkei or the cosplay makeup style back i around early 2000s to 2010s)

I honestly would love for both you and James just to react to that one hack where people are using latex to take off their makeup! Ask someone who has done special effects makeup (for fun, not professional) I know exactly how drying that can be to the skin and how that can actually irritate your skin! And I could just see both you and James rightly so, dragging people who are doing it

I love Mac Fix Plus but to me it’s not a setting spray, it’s a fixing spray. I use it to melt powders in or use it for shimmer shadows to make them pop. It’s great to refresh makeup through the day but it doesn’t increase the longevity of makeup like an actual setting spray does like Urban Decay All Nighter or Milani or Charlotte Tilbury or many other setting sprays. 💕

When I was young an nieve I thought when your foundation looked crusty etc I thought my skin didn’t like it. Now I know it’s dry and I just have to regularly do exfoliating. I have found liquid peels once a week is best for me. That and cleaning brushing regularly I found helped!

I got trained about 10 years ago, and the MAC fixer wasn’t a setting spray then either. The one I have now also says “fix + primer” not setting, so I’m confused about that one, haha. And the makeup artist with the brow blocking tip, that was a good tip! I specialize in sfx makeup, and that idea was honestly genius. It’s so time saving!

To my 90s brow peeps, especially those with oily brows, blotting and setting is super helpful before application of brow pencils, powders, pomades, etc. I have next to no eyebrows, naturally, and if I just go in with some brow product, even on clean freshly washed skin, good luck! Its just a slick mess and I cand get anything righr. Instead, I start my routine by first running a toner or miscellar over my brow area, then applying a thin* layer of tacky eyeshadow primer, then setting with powder, **before** running over a pencil or powder or pomade. Huge life saver and game changer!
