They are called box turtles because they are able to close themselves in completely. Unlike other species of turtles. They are able to enclose themselves, or box themselves in. That is why they are called a common box turtles. There are other things that are wrong with the video, however I won't go into those. I have a turtle with 5 toes up front 4 in the back and I've looked up every thing to try to fiqure out what she was..now I know thank you so much..

Yea my vet told me that many years ago. Idk why he said cause they're kept in boxes, lol.

a wire floor is the worst as they can catch their claws on the wire and sometimes pull them out!! they need a substrate deep enough for them to dig and burrow.

my box turtle is in the bath right now....not for long but she can't get a dish in her enclosure to drink so she gets 25 mins in the bath.....i want to know if that is okay if she isnt in for long because this is my first turtle and im not too sure if anyone has advice on that please tell me thank you

Where is the dirt, leaves, and flat stones to sharpen their nails? Why are they living on a metal grate? You said they’re outdoors the majority of the time. Is that what they are in? If not, thats a terrible example. You cant keep them in a cage. And it’s RUSTED.... Its not that hard to build a proper enclosure with actual dirt. A broken out bookshelf would be better than that.
