I love these types of videos. They give me the enthusiasm to wrench on my own project bikes over the weekend. And they are an effective reminder to never respond to ads that say "currently not running". Although, I suspect that you can't be completely happy as a motorcyclist unless you have at least one project bike in the garage to tinker with.

@@williamcb78 I was that kind of rider for a while. Then I bought 3 project bikes this year & couldn't be happier. One is already on the road, one will be completely sorted tomorrow & the third just needs the 4 carburetors balanced & tuned. By the end of the year I'll have 4 bikes that I can ride, plus the tools & experience to be able to fix almost any issue that comes up down the road.

Words cannot describe how happy I am seeing someone with mechanical experience go through this while I'm trying to go over my first bike, a '97 Suzuki GS500E, that turns out had been mistreated by her last owner over almost 15 years, and then I put another 5000 miles on it as a newbie, and now I'm fixing it up to make sure that the next guy won't have to deal with a pile of trash waiting to blow up, which I did without knowing that I did.

I’d definitely use a torque wrench on the fork tubes. They’re very specific numbers and over tight can cause binding of suspension components

For years I did my wrenching bare handed, recently I bought a box of vinyl nitrate gloves, can't work without them now, save the odd knuckle skin too. Maybe I'll get a pair of mechanics gloves soon, really go wild.

Nice work! 👍 My F4i was same color and my first big bike. Put almost 30k on it before selling a few years ago and I do miss it a bit. I do NOT miss dealing with the bleepin' fairings every time I needed to do any maintenance...

Great vid. I had an F4i. Set it up as a sport touring machine. I put about 60k miles on that bike. It was by far one of my favorites of the bikes I’ve owned.

Ugh... I can feel the "waiting for parts" thing... I'm currently waiting on parts for 2 bikes... and then I did a colossal stupid and dropped my 3rd bike in the garage while moving it around, cracked the mirror, bent the lever and scuffed the fairing... I wasn't careful with the kickstand...I knew better. That bike now needs a left mirror and I can probably straighten the lever... Feeling the "I'm tired of working on this ******* bike" moment too. Still, I'm looking forward to the next episode in the saga of the FB marketplace F4i.
