My current bike is an 02 f4i. I absolutely love it. The look, the sound, the big sweeping analog tach. No riding assists whatsoever. Imo early to mid 00's was the golden era of sport bikes. It doesnt have the low end torque of a vtwin bike but the buildup to its 14500 redline is so sweet. I can merge onto the highway in 1st gear. You're one of the only people making modern f4i content. Cant wait to see more

I've had an itch for an F4i. As far as sportbikes go, nothing beats a screaming 4 cylinder. I picked up a 954rr a couple years ago and I was blown away at how good that bike felt when you started to push it, especially in corners. When you get it on the side of the tire it just begs for more. The only problem is that you're doubling speed limits (or more) in the process. Really looking forward to seeing more F4i content in the future.

@@friendlysnoworb6091 I’m guessing You probably didn’t know the 954 was lighter. Let me give some perspective as someone with first hand experience. I’ve ridden the F4i. I owned an 954 for almost 2 years and logged approximately 12k miles on it in that time. When people who didn’t know what it was saw it they commonly asked if it was a 600. I could come to a stop waiting to turn into my neighborhood and just sit. Feet on pegs. Just sit stopped. That’s not difficult but this thing did it way longer than any other bike I’ve been on in over 30 years of riding. You think about going somewhere and that’s where it goes. The Power Band starts around 4K! You have to make a conscious effort to keep the front end down. Every time I rode the front wheel came up at least once. Never. Ever. Tried to do a wheelie but I was on one wheel every ride but it was absolutely perfect and even a couple of times I had the rear step out and instead of a high side just a tiny let up on on the throttle and I was back to straight arrow with no shimmy. Also, I caught air off a couple of bumps and it landed smooth as silk. It’s crazy good. I’m now on an 06 Fireblade. It’s a bit heavier and only a tiny bit slower to 60 and a little more top endy but still an awesome ride.

I picked up a 2005 Yamaha R6 this last summer as my 2nd bike moving up from a Ninja 250. Had to do a bunch of work to get it ride-worthy but it was a fun process. Was able to ride it for a couple months before winter showed up. It's been a decent learning curve but also an absolute BLAST! Biggest thing I had to learn was to manage the weight and seat height. Yeah I dropped it a couple times at a stop. You're so right in your points you stated with that classic motorcycle sound with the inline-4. Definitely feels super stable at speed in a lean. Can get into law-breaking speeds pretty damn quick lol. Was only able to fit in some spirited street rides but already signed up for a cornering course and a track day next year to really get my comfort peaked on this. Can't wait! Until then, some winter wrenching to be done. Thanks Spite!

I loved the shape of the gas tank and how it supports your knees, helps keep your weight off the bars. Ultimately, my sv650 power delivery was hard to match compared to the f4i waiting to wake up. You HAVE TO be mindful of gear position when getting technical in twisties- if you're in too low a gear, you get on the throttle and...nothing there. Not too fun for street use.

Much agreed about middleweight inline-fours getting us arrested. I've owned a CB650F for maybe 3 years as my daily (almost 60k miles) and I finally decided to get something smaller as a supplement because it only wants to be ridden at speeds inappropriate for the streets. Riding these types of bikes are incredibly frustrating at a normal pace despite being entirely competent and sharp machines. Looking at maybe a 300 for my next daily while I set the 650 aside as a track toy/sport tourer. It's still got plenty life left, but I'm getting tired of the urgent care visits and having to replace the handlebars and plastics every year. Funny enough, I highsided off my 650 shortly before the police scooped me up.

So, I unloaded the 599 for 31 hundred and a guy road up from Grand Rapids (I live in the U.P. of Mich) , bought it, stuffed it into a Honda Element and drove back down state. I had both the Honda and Suzuki at the same time and considered them to be very comparable bikes, except the Suzuke had 25 to 30 more horses over the Hawk gt even though they were both v-twin 650's.They both fell right into the curves with very little effort.

Few were available for sale and saw the Hornet, Bandit's, Z750, GSR's, GSX-S, Z8 and 900 etc. Adored them instantly, and went the naked bike route. 0 regrets. I love the ridiculous soundtrack of an inline 4, but with our local draconian road laws I wouldn't be able to get a 600 out of 1st gear most of the time. You said "squid-iest squid bike" but it needs at the very least a dark smoke windscreen so dark you can seen nothing though it while in the pocket. Bonus point if it's mirrored and/or doesn't quite fit right.

I like both my 98 vfr 800 and 01 gxsr 600, I won't lie though the gxsr is like a bullet and the vfr is more like a fat beginner bike, although I still have all stock suspension on both of them rn they still certainly feel powerful enough for the streets.

I think the reason people stunt it over a 636 is because it has a stronger frame, subframe and front end. 636 has more power but more likely to fall apart if you drop it learning stuff. And also the throttle is way smoother than an rr, you don’t want a twitchy throttle in a wheelie 😂 Although I have 2 stunted rr’s but I’ve never wheelie’d anything else so I don’t know any better

After your ZX6R review i thought you would swear off sportbikes for good. I have found that very small ergonomic tweaks make a HUGE difference in comfort. The slightly relaxed ergonomics here are an example. How is the gearbox?

I love the screaming inline 4 sound track... But I totally get why a 600 is kinda lame on the street... by the time you get to the juicy part of the power band you are doing blazing speeds... I think this is why 650s are so popular... gives you close to 600 super sport characteristics but with more usable power for street duty. Looking forward to a track day with this thing
