Nice video, good stuff. That's how you learn trial and error when fishing solo. When I shark fish solo I just rope my leader around the weight and pull the rope much easier to control and way easier to pull the shark up especially if it a 6 to 7ft + shark. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad the shark made it. I'm not going to say what things could have been done differently. Definitely don't go alone if that shark would have died you would be feeling like crap. We know that we only got so much time to dehook the shark

Leave them alone shark finning is a sin against all nature and I don't like what your doing leave the sting Ray's alone as well. Maybe the lightning trying to tell you something. you do know playing a big fish for a long time can kill them they fill up with lactic acid and can and do die from it. Don't say we not on your side, take the hook stick in your cheek set it hard see how it feel's then try doing some reading about lactic acid ànd fish that's the outcome every minute it takes you longer and longer no the camera for you not her you don't really care if she lives or die's don't dare say she just fine, your beat right now poor baby how about the shark.

Love ity. His gear is so heavily set up, theres no need for him to play it out and tire it. He just gut busts it in and his gear is strong enough to handle it. Good work. That was bigger than any shark I have ever caught. Im not sure my gear set up would handle something that big. Nice. Thats worth bragging about at the pub.

That was painful to watch man. Unnecessarily complicated for you and the shark as well. Maybe next time you go alone have some metal rod rammed into the sand around which you can fixate the line. That way you'll have two hands free.

Wow, I was already stressing when the rope wouldn't stay on the fish but once the line got tangled in your feet I was very worried. What an amazing shark in some unfavorable weather but glad to see you get it back with what looks like to be a tracker on its fins. All the things that could happen happened but you made it out, and yeah possibly no more solo shark fishing for behemoths of that size. Great stressful video!

You should grab a minimum 16” preferably 24” ARC unhooker. And 6ft of 1-3/4” pvc pipe as a rod holder. I can’t say anything bad about the arc dehookers and the rod holder I leave about 3 ft exposed and it’ll hold almost anything you want while you drag in.

I’ve been wanting to catch a shark for almost a month now. I finally used sting ray and after my line being in for 20 minutes I had caught a 5 foot sandbar shark. I have never in my life have caught a fish as big as 5ft. My friends would come a lot but they ended up losing hope, so I would start going 1-4 times a week surf fishing. 2 days ago I caught one and MAN after 30 minutes of fighting the fish I WAS TIRED. I was panicking thinking it was gonna bite me so I was scared to unhook it. I ended up unhooking and man I felt messed up cause it look like it had died. Turns out it was just tired and swam away after 10 minutes.

Anyone coming to the TX coast to fish, be VERY careful in the dunes. Rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and even copperheads love them. Have run into all three multiple times in Galveston and Bolivar and had a friend got tagged by a rattlesnake near Corpus and have heard stories of people getting bit when they go into the dunes to go to the bathroom. If we go fishing or exploring in the dunes and marshy areas I will actually wear snake boots a lot of times. I know my boy here knows that, but for people not from around here or not used to fishing the Gulf Coast. Would bet money this would apply all around the Gulf from FL to TX.

Not 100 percent on this but I think most species of fish have some type of painless nerve endings in there mouths. I could be mistaken though

Because biologists can literally study the differences in our nervous systems and how they operate at even a cellular level. The consensus is that they can feel pain but intemperate the pain differently (humans interpreting pain closer to trauma and fish interpreting pain closer to an alarm system)

Depending on where you are, you can get good sharks on casting gear. I have a video coming out later this year (it's a long project and I've already filmed some of it) where I cast a bait for sharks near this area.

So isn't the goal as a fisherman to remove the hook from out of the sharks mouth seen plenty of videos of people catching sharks alone without leaving hooks and wire leader in their mouth.

It weighed hundreds of pounds (that shark was over 8 feet long). Literally nobody is dragging it up an incline and over the sand by a wire leader.
