It’s so scary & I know exactly how you feel. Had people try two different times recently to get in. Both times were after midnight, banging on our door, my dog was going crazy. The dog does seem to scare them.

I think these door cameras need to include an alarm. So when they think they're breaking in at 4 am(or anytime) they get a red light flashing and a super loud noise!!

This is why when my adult son and husband are not home I lock the doors. They have key and it keeps nearby homeless or anyone else who doesn't live Here from coming in and surprising me.

I have two rotties at my residence all the time. They are aloof to strangers, fairly silent and stoic and also highly territorial. Not everyone can accommodate such large dogs that require a lot of space and exercise. Short of having my convenient situation, even a small alert dog is a deterrent. A dog is the best, live alert/protector you could spend your money on.

Even though some states have a few more safety rules for guns, I'm pretty sure all 50 states allow people to have and use a gun for protection in your home or car if you or your family members are physically threatened. I don't think any states allow felons to own and use guns, though. Yes, that doesn't stop them in many cases, but what states in the United States do not allow guns to mentally healthy and non-felons? Inform me. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the law.
