I leave my doors unlocked when at home because I carry my firearm around my home but of course I lock my doors before I go to bed.

The guy that says he was from the property management company of the bank is really a squatter looking for a house to break into and occupy. That is the same story they all use when they are caught in the act of checking out homes to see if they are empty. I had some weird guy come into my yard last summer when I was mowing out back in the alley and claimed that my services were not needed any longer since he was the new owner and he would be taking care of his own yard, I told him he must have the wrong house because I own this property but he tried to say that I was wrong and that his wife is moving in as we speak, that’s when we heard the screaming, his wife opened my back door and my three pitbull dogs was on her like stink on shit. I keep my dogs in the house while mowing for their safety. The man and woman was arrested for breaking and entering and when the man demanded that my dogs be taken into custody for attacking his wife the cop just simply told him that she wouldn’t have been attacked and injured if the two of them was trying to steal someone home and she entered into the home unlawfully and the dogs was doing their job.

Dude got on a whole jail outfit talking bout he work for the bank😭😭😭🤦🏽‍♀️

If you're behind on your mortgage, the lender can send people to do occupancy checks to make sure you haven't skipped town. I'm not sure if they're actually employees of the company per se, maybe "independent contractors". That being said, that guy didn't look or sound legit at all. Should've been "My name is ______ on behalf of ______ bank/mortgage company. Just checking that the home is occupied. Have a good day."

Whats even worse is if you do try to help these people either they attach themselves to you or others like them see you giving something and they want it to. It snow balls. My heart breaks when people cry because they have'nt eaten or thirsty. The lady on this crying for water, it really pulled on my heart. Yet once you give in your a target. I hate being cold but I don't know how to just help once and be done. Watch out at truck stops for sure their rampant there.

OK so instead of a hook, fit an eyebolt to your porch beam, then get a small shackle bolt from the hardware store and use that to fit your hanging baskets to the ring on the eyebolt. They're a pain to undo without steps.

The occupancy check thing....I only know about this because I signed a quit claim on the property my ex-husband and I owned..... Anyhow, several times when that property had fallen into arrears on the mortgage, some random person would be paid by the bank tondo said occupancy check which would eventually result in my phone being blown up. This happened even after I sent in notarized quit claim documents. I'm pretty sure this was a legit dude, despite how random and nefarious he looked. These are low rent types that get paid a small fee for doing an "occupancy check," which involves taking pics of the property the bank still technically owns, and speaking with the occupants, if possible

Even when we were at home, doors and windows must be kept shut. We were told never answer your door to strangers or go out to your gate to talk to them either. When I moved to Europe in the early 2000s when crime was low there, I kept doing what i did in Africa. People mocked me for it though. Our police in Africa also told people that criminals observe potential targets in advance. Not all burglaries are random. Very few are. Criminals want to know your daily routine, level of security at your home, if you have a guard dog, how many people live with you, what genders (women are regarded as easy prey) and what type of vehicle you drive and what your house is like from the outside. High value cars and nice big houses=money to criminals. The best prevention against burglaries and vio lent home invasions is wisdom. Being security conscious is your wisdom.

A grown man walked in on me in my parents house when I was just 9 years old because my dumb ass parents left the front door unlocked !!!! Now he was my neighbor's husband & had come over to yell at me because I was blasting my music to loud but still it was NOT his place to just walk in my house on me alone !!!! My parents didn't even confront this man about entering our home on me either !!!! & Oh of course NO APOLOGIES EITHER FROM MY PARENTS ABOUT LEAVING THE DOOR UNLOCKED WITH THEIR 9 YEAR OLD HOME ALONE !!!!
