I swear to God I don't understand why these people leave their storm or security doors unlocked.

A lot of people have a habit of trying many door knobs to see which ones are unlocked. They don't know if the tenant is waiting with a gun ready. They're hoping the tenants are not home. Thats a hell of a chance to take.

I let my dogs have the run of the hallway straight to the front door, if anyone tries I feel very very sorry for them if they meet my 30kg and 65kg protective dogs

Even lock your bedroom door when you go to sleep. Lock your bathroom door when you use the bathroom. Lock your refrigerator. And remember, if you hurt an intruder you’ll be the one prosecuted.

I don't understand why people do not get to know their neighbors. If you are expecting a package and you aren't going to be home, ask a neighbor to grab it for you. We have a storm door, that is always locked. Due to my dog, our gates all have locks on them. Simple things will keep you safe.

@@louisemitipelo5345 I have a neighbor that I refer to as "the Unabomber." This kid walks around, in 90 degree heat, with a hoodie up and a mask on. He has tried to start fights with a 13 yr old with learning disabilities. I would not trust him or his family to know I've left my house, to run to the store. I have gotten to know them just as I've gotten to know my other neighbors. I think it's important to know the people around you, good, bad or indifferent.

Best investment ever, get yourself an electronic deadbolt, I use August. I programmed mine to lock it immediately after the door closes. Once you close the door these thieves can't get to your house fast enough before they lock. Doesn't matter which name brand. Also cams other than doorbell cams are recommended I used to be a locksmith and I learned so much about security.

Man because of you I put a kick bar under each door to my house at night when we sleep. Three houses down their door was kicked in in the middle of the night. My wife didn't like the idea or the kick bars at first but now she keeps them on during the day when shes alone.

Always lock your doors. All hours of the day no matter what. Its not worth the life of your family or yourself. People die in gated communities all the time. Good security system, reinforced doors, 2nd ammendment with lots of training, legit guard dog, another with natural protective instincts, and never without the 2nd when out of bed. Thats in a nice area too. Its never worth the chance. Ever... PS always call the cops even if they leave. That way they can keep an eye on the area.

And if you gotta put a bunch of cans or furniture or bottles I tell ya we put a string round a can pop top and tied the other end to our broken window latch and made that can the bottom of a stack and I tell u my sister forgot bout that window and try to sneak in Lord have mercy between the cans the dog and my dad and the gun he had in her face he was so pissed and later broke down how close he come to just blasting ...but he was a pro.

They are paying/paid for a camera to protect your house 😌...if you see what I mean .. as long as they can't see IN your house (peeping tom kind of ish) the police can't do anything & no point in whinging yourself up about it, be calm & thank them for their security measures ( if they are arguing about it being on your home or something)

Being logical here. You said ever since you got your Ring video, you've found out that people jiggle your doorknob at night. But you're asleep when that happens, and you don't find out till the next day... after the fact. So hindsight doesn't help you at all. Of course it teaches you thst you need to lock your doors at all times, including the storm and wrought iron doors so often left open. Those are worth the investment. But watching video at breakfast the next day doesn't help you at night when it's happening and you're sleeping. Unless you leave the notification on audible all night long and get awakened with every person, cat, dog, coyote and moose that walks by. Who wants that? Surely, these videos you provide are lesson enough about locking doors.

It's hard to believe but Just happened to me for the first time around Thanksgiving! I'm in a really nice area! Thankfully I had been up late and right by my door locking it when it happened. I freaked out!!

I’m from the uk things are different here. what I don’t understand why people don’t take packages in when at home. We have letterboxes attached to the front door so the post or small packages can come through the door and fall onto the doormat inside the home and you can’t put your hand inside them because a lot of them are spring flaps. I just don’t understand about leaving doors unlocked over in uk soon as you come in it’s common sense to lock the door when come in and lock it when going out I’m confused. Also delivery drivers Amazon knock on the door to make sure you have it or if not then leave with a neighbour and leave a note post it through the letterbox to say where it is to collect it. The same if sending a parcel back arrange day or take it to local post office and send it back not leave it outside for anyone to take

When did community and love get replaced by fear and paranoia in working class communities? Alot of these people look genuinely unwell, in crisis and / or showing confusion, and that could potentially be a sign that they're physically unwell and need help. It just feels odd to me ya know that people instantly go to hostile instead of "You alright mate?". That is really fucking scary, not only that but we don't even truly know our neighbours anymore.

They stole 2 of my e-bikes. one in 11/2023 and another last night. all on Ring.

I want a camera system so badly, but i live in a really safe area, so i just cant talk myself into buying one😂 i almost did because before christmas a few groups of mailboxes were destroyed and robbed and ppl were destroying decorations n stuff. And we had someone steal my dads flag on veterans day and hes a vietnam vet. If you didnt have to pay a monthly subscription, i probably wouldve gotten something😂
