“This Is Obscenity” | Rod Liddle Slams Government For 'Awarding' PPE Deal To Michelle Mone

The Sun’s columnist Rod Liddle reacts to Baroness Michelle Mone’s interview in which she admitted benefiting from a deal between the Government and PPE firm.
“They were hiving off lucrative contracts to their mates,” he says.
The interview, on the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme, saw Lady Mone admit she did not tell the truth about her links to the PPE firm - while insisting that she and her husband have “no case to answer”.

True. As the guest here says, the basic idea of a VIP lane is in itself not the issue. It's just in this case, the parameters for being a VIP were classic Tory. . VIP companies should have been those companies that could bang out decent PPE, in bulk, at short notice, for a little bit of profit. But no. They chose to read VIP as those companies that could rinse as much profit as possible out of the job. I wonder if Gove 'forgot' to tell them to behave like decent human being, so they defaulted to their usual gutter level default? I was working in ITU during the pandemic. We had lical packaging companies supplying us with half decent PPE....for free! We had a local gin distillery giving us hand gel....for free! If someone had said, 'Hey, we are going to put these companies on a VIP track. They normally make boxes and gin, but shall we reward them for stepping up by giving them a contract?'. I would have been more thsn happy with that.

After a short time Ultimo became insolvent and Michael's wealthy friends Grabiner (CEO of Philip Green's Arcadia/ Top Shop) and Hunter (billionaire retailer) took control of the company. They got the Ultimo bra into their shops and the firm made a small profit on it's £10m annual turnover for a few years before they sold their shares back to the Mones. Michael sold his shares to Ultimo's overseas supplier in Sri Lanka and left Michelle for their designer. The firm became loss making again and finally Michelle's minority shareholding shares were swapped in a debt for equity deal with their Asian supplier leaving MIchelle broke. Why is the government at the time not arrested? There should be a criminal charge brought forward. If a regular citizen would have lost 60mel by an accident, would he/she be just forgiven and carry on as nothing ever happened? They should be jailed!

🦉🐯 My understanding of the "law" states that this type of criminal activity if proved ends with a long custodial sentence. Remember a case of a young man arrested for stealing small items, like razor blades from a shop, who ended up in a young offenders prison in Feltham, but never made it out alive.

Just like Matt Hancocks pub landlord getting a 20 million contract to supply vials something he had no experience in. How many MP’s started company’s employing family members only to claim furlough? Track and trace app was 35 Million. And I’d love to know who got backhanders from Randox!! It’s funny how Van - Tam now works for Moderna the company that Sunak hedge fund company made millions from. Also Sunaks wife got 2 million in startup grants. I’m sure all this will be revealed by the enquiry 🤣
