It angers me that this is even in question, a woman gives birth to children, have menstrual cycles, the menopause, why is this in question!! I was raised by my mum who had immense strength, she had many health issues and she died this may. I am a gay man and know what a woman is, I learnt from the best, my mum, I saw her grace and courage as a strong woman who overcame domestic violence to raise three well balanced children. If a man decides to live as a woman that's fine, but accept that you will never be a woman, in my opinion, women are born, not man-made!!!

The boys who want to change are not mature enough to be called ADULT, because they seem to believe: Y-chromosome = male (sometimes) and X-chromosome = female (always), so because EVERY human has to have at least ONE X-chromosome, everyone can declare himself female (it's mommys fault, anyway). The toilets need the question "Y do you want to enter here???" for "Y not" and the male places rated as "X-tremely Y"

It's not just women's privacy, dignity and safety that Labour appears to be a bit laissez-faire about - it's also the safeguarding of children. Putting the teaching of this stuff to one side, what does Labour expect the father of a young daughter to do if, when he takes her for her weekly swimming lesson, he notices that she's followed into the changing room by someone who is quite obviously a man dressed as a woman? While the overwhelming majority of men are not predators, some are and if they think they can get away with posing as women in order to access women and children, they are going to do so. In this case what is a responsible father to do, because I don't know a single man of my acquaintance who would accept this potential threat to their child - and nor should they.

Really good point. As Helen J said, what sort of man will take advantage of free access to women's changing rooms? Not the decent ones, for sure. I'd like to ask some of these tr*ns activists how they'd feel if their own daughters, or maybe sisters or nieces, children in general are getting changed for a swimming lesson... really, you're comfortable for them to be confronted by a naked adult male who is possibly staring at them, possibly even in a visible state of excitement...? Who in their right mind is okay with that??

Helen Joyce - thank you for fighting this important battle. My main concern is for the children who, if they're struggling with their growing up and are confused, are steered down the path of questioning their own "gender" by ideologically possessed adults, doing them immense harm. I'm a grandfather who's very worried about what my grandchildren are being taught in school.

Indeed. Not every school has this policy of not informing the parents if their child is 'questioning', but I wonder if those that do keep parents in the dark realise the psychological damage they could be causing by enabling the child to live a double life? It's one thing if the parents are ogres and the school has genuine safeguarding concerns, but what if they aren't? By its actions the school is encouraging the child to lie to its parents, and that cannot be psychologically healthy for the child. Lies and guilt are awful burdens for young teenagers to carry around. I read an article some time ago by a mother whose child became confused about its gender, and was encouraged by a school whose policy was to not inform parents. As the mother pointed out, schools excluding or overriding parents are only supportive until the child is 16 or 18. They leave school and what happens to them then ? The school just moves on but the child and its parents are left with whatever mess has been caused by the education policy.

When Emma Barnett 'interviewed' Maya Forstater about her legal fight to be able to say that a woman is an adult human female - she was sacked from her job for saying this - Barnett hardly let her speak and was so hostile and aggressive towards her that I thought she was going to accuse Maya Forstater of some serious crime! Because the number of women with gender dysphoria is much lower, and of those who try to live as men, they don't try to take over men's positions. For the most part transgender male to female activists are misogynistic people who use the system to benefit themselves at the expense of actual women, while people who actually suffer gender dysphoria just want to live their lives, not take away the rights of others.

Why should a very very small minority dictate to the vast majority it should be the other way round

Love Helen Joyce, love JK Rowling. Have lost friends lately because i have said i don't believe in gender identity. I said that i support the rights of people who identify as trans to transition and live their lives, but that's never enough. They want full compliance to gender madness or you're a bigot. But women's sex segregated spaces is a hill I'll gladly die on.

This is not just a female-only issue as the media constantly presents it. There should be single-sex spaces for males, too, but no-one ever seems to say anything on this issue on behalf of men and boys.

The clue is in the title! Woman singular, women pleural, but the title implies multiple versions of women. I get so peeved with all this since there is no variation. A woman is a biological adult female of the human race and that's it.

Man is just the short version of human, so they are irked, that women are included in their cathegory but that it does not work the other way round for male born humans!

I don't understand why no one is asserting that every organ and hormone in the human body corresponds with their sex, ie the secondary sex organs. It is NOT an obsession or fixation with 'what is in a person's pants'. This response sidesteps the point of relevance by trying to make those who disagree look morally inferior.

We are born with either a 'hole' or a 'pole'. Deal with it. Nuff said.

Why is it predominantly a question about women? Why are these people having such a hard time defining what a woman is? Is there the same confusion over men? Why is it always "transwomen are women" and we rarely hear "transmen are men?" I mean, I kind of know the answer to that. In my opinion it's really just men being men and bullying women. Are transmen being put into MEN'S prison? They better be if transwomen are in women's prison. Think about that for a minute.

I hate it when politicians use the fact that a law says something is proof that it is right.!? Laws are made by politicians and can be changed by politicians. If politicians say they can't do something because of a previously written law, you know they actually agree with the law and just don't want any flack for it, which also means they know it's wrong or they could put forward a good argument.
