“Repugnant is the creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here” One of my favourite Tool lyrics. There’s an animated video, not done by Tool, with this song that’s worth a watch. Their latest album is Fear Inoculum, which was released in 2019. 10000 Days came out in 2006. Spiral out bro.

I’ve listened to Tool since ‘93. Somehow I missed this song for YEARS. I discovered it while I was in the midst of a 2cb trip. Listened to it on repeat for about 9 hours with a smile on my face and tears steaming down my cheeks while I stroked my doggos, sitting in the sun soaked window of my sun room, drinking sweet tea. That was one of my very best days…

I missed it for years too. I think it’s because it starts off so quiet, and I was looking for a ripper. This song is a slow burn, but holy crap it burns hot when it gets going!

The first time I tripped acid was the day Fear Inoculum dropped. I have a painting of the Grand Canyon on my wall and I became this ancient warrior who was trying to get back to my tribe. But what I didn’t know was, I was the last one. They all got whipped out. Then the song changed and I walked into the kitchen and suddenly it felt like I was at the grocery store haha

Making us wait so long for FI is symbolic of the time Maynard's mom was bedridden. Couldn't release her until she was gone, but couldn't beat to let her go, either. Also, Maynard couldn't understand a lot about following the Lord Jesus thru thick and thin. Her church wasn't perfect, so he blames all of Christianity. That's not right. Jesus is the only 1 who's perfect. The cup can be scratched and dirty, but still hold water. Knowhutimeen Vern?

Wassup Dr. Choppy! Another banger review as expected! 10,000 days is not their latest, their latest is Fear Inoculum (Pneuma, 7empest, Decending...). ALL their albums are EPIC..full stop. Start with some original Tool (Opiate EP), then go to Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus, Salival (live...and very worth the journey), 10,000 days and then Fear Inoculum. You'll get a great sense of their musical journey and maturity. They've been an elite band since day 1. You'd be hard pressed to actually find a song you don't like....I challenge you! The worst Tool song is still better than 99% of anything else out there!

I’m no musical scholar - I just like what I like. I like Tool. This song to me has a weird dissonance to it that I’ve never been able to put my finger on, but which captivated me and draws me in every time. For some stretches of my life, that has been multiple times a day… Adam’s guitar at the start, there are notes there that don’t fit, but are perfect nonetheless in that they don’t fit… Sometimes pointing out the things that aren’t right and are ugly and gross is the most perfect thing….

For some reason, this album always reminds me of the painting “Christina’s World,” by Andrew Wyeth. Maybe it’s because of the similarities between the subject and Maynard’s mother, I don’t know. At any rate, it’s a beautiful painting that’s totally unrelated to a beautiful album, but it’s funny how art can do that to a person.

I suggest for an earlier track, try "Flood" from the "Undertow" album. "Opiate" EP was earlier and is often missed because "Undertow" is the first "album" release... because an EP is not an album. Semantics! It's just too short total runtime to have classified as a full length album. So for earliest Tool try "Opiate", they have more recently done an update "Opiate²" so you could check that out after or do a double header.

Dude. How the hell do they get together and write shit like this. I mean every piece is like “how did he think of that?”. And they do that 100 times in a song.

If you want to hear some intelligent technical Thrash metal.. You should give Vektor a try. They are primarily Thrash with a Sci-Fi theme. Album 1 Suggestion: Black Future - Forests of Legend (atmospheric thrash with a tint of black metal sound) Album 2: Outer Isolation - Tetrastructural Minds (great overall intro to Vektor. Has Thrash, Melodies, and Vocal Range) Album 3: Terminal Redux - Psychotropia (Excellent modern thrash with a glorious riff) They are incredibly solid all around their discography. You can't really go wrong with any track.

@@sevsimoreacts enjoy my man, if you're looking for a good start into their music: Listen is the first song they put out, and Zenith is the latest. Both are them in a nutshell.

Adam snake charmed you so deep that you might have missed Danny going super saiyan. Stay with Danny after the ‘bongos’. Keep going dude. Jump back to the Undertow album before you go into Fear Inoculum more.

The drums you think are bongos are actually the Indian instrument "Tabla" or "Tablas", Danny uses what's called an E-Tab..(Electronic)...he's the master, TooL is the most unique band on the planet...and in a world filled with music....they have been able to remain unique, they sound like no one else, a few bands have tried to cop their sound and you hear it here and there but they are still absolutely unique

Not there last album by far. You have a long journey to go. Do research on them. This band is worth it. Tool stands alone from any other band, period. They are more technical than any other band out there. Been a member of the Tool army since 93. They changed my life at lollapalooza and they will do the same for you.
