Once the Billionaires seized our music industry, the end of mass social change was complete. The anti-war movements died without provocation by our musical artists. Ditto for the once independent media system America briefly had throughout the 60’s to early 90’s….until the Clinton administration rammed the Tele Com Act thru. And that’s history, for you younger peeps. Sabbath was the target of a coordinated narrative by the religious right and their fascist media allies to be painted as “satanic”. You all remember that BS. That’s because of art and music like “War Pigs”, which clearly intended to condemn the psychopaths who lied us into the Vietnam War. Bastards now own ALL the media, and have CIA trained operatives bringing us our daily “news”. Anywho, Sabbath was insanely awesome live. No gimmicks, no glam attire, no BS, just kick ass R&R!

I can't be a Mastodon fan though I really tried. I enjoy some of their music that are less proggy, but "The Riff" is just superb - and it's also the straightest part of the song.

The SHATTERING march out of this song is one of the most PROFOUND things Pink Floyd ever recorded. "Animals" is EASILY their greatest album. It smashes "Dark Side Of The Moon" into DUST. "Animals" FOREVER....!!!!!

Loved this... you don't say it, but you're clearly moved by the entire spectacle . It's an assuault on the senses in the best way, and silly level of audio perfection. I think like me, that you probably _layer_ the music in your head as you hear it...I never hear lyrics, the voice is just another instrument...not that it matters here :)

The" funky bossa nova" bit at around 11-13 minutes here (which was originally several minutes longer, they cut it down due to the time restrictions of vinyl if you wanted really perfect sound) has this ability to make the music move between hot and cold, even at the same time in different parts of the sonic image - it's like we're one minute wallowing in something warm and languid, then glimpse something cold and intimidating (the keyboards)...Those two poles in the music are there at the same time. The Floyd were very good at achieving sudden shifts in atmosphere like that, like in a dream: there are many instances of it on Dark Side of the Moon.
