The musical interlude in the middle is like a masterful description of the human history of warfare, from primitive early man being represented by the tabla drums building to more and more fierce intensity representing our current nuclear Armageddon capabilities. At least that's the meaning I get from how they structured that musical arrangement.

Heck yeah! One of my all time faves from the masters in Tool. Glad you are checking it out.

I love the musical breakdown in the middle because it IMO represents a time machine and a musical representation of the theme of this song (and many other tool songs)... The continual erratic and misguided nature of mankind. The breakdown starts with early man (slower, peaceful, tribal) and evolves to the current state of mankind (hard, fast, loud, chaotic).

At this point, considering how much you're loving this band, you should commit to doing their whole catalog, in order. Due to events in Maynard's life, there is an over-arching narrative that will be tough to ferret out listening to the songs randomly. Keep in mind, TOOL will add things at the very end of songs. So you might want to get out of the habit of stopping them before they're done. 😁

Nbd but I’m in the top 1% of tool listeners on Spotify and you should just stfu. Let him dive deeper if the wants and if not who cares. Way better if he does it on his own vs you telling him ought to. You should know better if you actually know tool. The spirit of the songs would tell you that telling ppl how to listen is not it

Tools music is the TRUTH

Oh man you really should have done Intension before this one in the same video, like on the album (it leads into this song). That being said, please do Intension next. It is one of my absolute favorites and I really think it will suit you too.

Time to commit to the Tool army! You should go through the Tool discography chronologically. For me, Tool is therapy. They remind me to open my mind and heart, consider others before me. On a side note, Intention is a lead into Right into. Keep going down the Tool rabbit hole and I will be here for it!

As far as the lyrics go (Someone out there correct me if I'm wrong), Maynard writes the lyrics to fit the music either while the song is being constructed or afterward. At least that's what I gathered watching interviews, etc.

Maybe so. There's a few of them floating around. Some from his vinyard, others in studio. It gives one a good reference as to how the band works. Also, watching them live with Maynard always singing from behind, back in the shadows.

The song 'Intension', right before it, is about what we are (caveman). Right in Two is what we've become - stupid monkeys fighting over everthing instead of working together. Will we ever evolve?
