There are only a handful of reaction channels that I believe are authentic; meaning the reactor(s) dont actually like the song/band and they insult our intelligence trying to make us believe that they do and pretending that they “get” the music. The conversation at the end of this video perfectly encapsulates the Tool experience. It's not just the music, it's the long conversations you have after the fact with people that have also experienced it, contemplating not only the music but existence- among other things. To me, that's probably the best part of the entire video. Seeing the two of you slip so naturally into such a cerebral conversation, as we all often do because of this music.

For those that like the lyrics, Wings for Marie gets me every single time. Its about Maynards mother. He previously wrote a song called Judith with one of his other projects (A Perfect Circle). Maynards mother had an aneurysm when he was 11. The church told her she must have a sin she had not repented of so she was punished by God. The church told her she couldn't come back until she was healed. The church abandoned her, but she never abandoned her beliefs. Maynard was very angry about it. He wrote Judith. She died about 4 years after Judith. Three years later he wrote Wings for Marie. Whether or not Maynard believes in God, his mother never giving up on him changed his angry spirit and he believes she saved him. For me, this was close to home. My mother prayed for me every day no matter. She passed and I had to take a hard look at my life. She saved me.

This song is my fav Tool song and I like to check reactions to it every now and then. Glad you liked it. I don’t mean to exaggerate, overreact… I like to start paraphrasing a doctor’s opinion I heard in a PBS documentary that one of the hardest things about death has to do with the fact that we do not know what life is all about. Obviously, this song is far, not even close to what our purpose is, but this song does picture a tiny piece of our true existence -and in a way gives me peace. Besides the great musical instrumentation, the lyrics made it complete to my taste. Thanks for your video reaction.

I’ve listened to Tool since the beginning and you’re right, they are a category unto themselves. I’ve watched all of your Tool reaction videos and I have to give you guys some real credit because you both got it right away - the music connected with you immediately and you had deep insights about the music and what they are doing almost from the first minute of The Pot. There’s been a lot of “black dudes react to Tool” videos over the last couple of years and I’m so happy to see it happening. I’m not surprised in the least, and I’m excited to see where this leads musically. As a musician myself, the potential musical repercussions of how this influence might get filtered through the hip hop / rap community and what might come out the other end really has me excited and optimistic for music in general. Welcome aboard, gentlemen. The Tool Army is happy to have you along for the ride.

The song previous to right in two is called Intention, and slowly details how men divide from other men using tools as weapons, easing into right in twos message of division v apathy

You’re correct of course, it starts with Vicarious(feeling someone’s death vicariously), too right in two(gods description of heaven on earth with angels and presumably demons), it’s a journey of mankind with steps in between of life.

Not a conspiracy theory at all! They match their time signatures with patterns found in sacred geometry. They hit specific frequencies to activate different centers of the brain-literally MAKING YOU FEEL what they want you to feel when you listen to that piece of a piece. It’s absolutely a journey and the science and math behind the music is astounding. Paired with the deep lyrics, they’re so so freaking top tier.

Guys. I love when they do that. They feed you the pieces of the song bit by bit, and in a way that makes it hard to grasp the 2 or 3 rhythms you're trying to lock down. And then they just hand you the full gift of the ensemble. Wild.

To the point of how is Maynard basically participate with the pace of the songs he puts it as his voice is his additional instrument. He's not the lead singer he's the vocal instrument of the group.

The band completes all of the music before Maynard writes one lyric. They send the finished song to Maynard, then he writes the lyrics and vocal tone.

You were close about the meaning. I take it as basically the angels looking down on Gods creation (man) and are like “WTF was he thinking?!?” They squander, kill, destroy with no thought of how close they are to heaven.
