This manga is the retcon of everyday life that the mangaka wishes to live out himself. That's why the story never progresses. He wants this to continue eternally as if he IS the one who's living kazuya's life... because then he gets to see this mizuhara chick as much as he wants, everyday. To call this twisted is understatement, get this man to a 1st rate therapy service asap. This is why you should never get attached to your own characters. This is said in another video of similar topic, but this man is falling into one of the most basic mistakes that a writer should never do: get attached to your own characters to the point of delusion.

If kazuya had the personality of Dark Schneider from BASTARD this would have been a good series😂

Miyajima is either absolutely insane or a total genius. I watch RaG completely differently than any other anime because I know it is going nowhere fast which frees your expectations from normal definitions of quality. I want to see how long Miyajima can keep this up. I want to see how he can prevent Kazuya and Chizuru from EVER moving forward, in ever more insane, batshit crazy ways. At this point, (and again I have no idea whether the creator has planned this or not, and kind of want it a mystery) RaG has transcended its' genre become a unique and interesting watch because I enjoy participating in the madness.

Well, I'm still reading the manga, 283 chapters deep, and I can assure you Hunter that sadly we're still light years away from the ending :< the preview of rhe most recent chapter suggests they're gonna play Twister now, so yeah, Mizuhara in compromising positions incoming...

when i first heard about how rent-a-girlfriends story was never progressing, i initially thought that it was for money. most romance manga are built around that one moment of confession, keeping the viewers coming back time and time again just so they can see that one moment...but if you just continue to build and build to that moment without ever paying off then theoretically the manga could go on forever, with the fans hooked through sunk cost fallacy alone, after all you can't quit reading after you've already read the first 300+ chapters right?...sadly it seems that's not what happened, instead its just that the creator became parasocially obsessed with his own work to the point he cant let any other man be with his female mc 💀

If he wasn't married then being down bad for a character to the point of pretending she's his irl girlfriend would be a little odd but not that deep as he's not hurting anyone... But he IS married... WITH KIDS might I add. It's that point where I start to genuinely question what bro is doing. Either way this is a dumpster fire of a manga built off an amalgamation of some of the worst characters ever written and Sumi is the only thing about this entire piece of fiction that doesn't infuriate me. Like she's cool and all but if I wanted to read about a shy girl who struggles with communication in an actual good setting I'd just read Komi-san.

I am not suprised.This is like every gamer incel.But if you see Mangaka schedule then is even more crazy.95% of their everyday they spent to make chapter of manga so I am not suprised when somebody who see only paper of manga everyday are fucked up.Same with animators what have it even worst.Many pedo mangaka are out there and even they were arrest for just not even month,they still working as mangaka.Other thing is that in Japan is COMMON that people cheat,is actual normal there.Beauty standard are there more important then personality,even is 2023 still women out there have no same rights as in western countries,still are rasist to foreigner who wants live there and society from Japan is general fucked up.This is just little example of broken system and broken people.

I honestly thought that those things are exaggerated until I spent time with a Russian cultural professor who lives in Japan. He pulled no punched about its society and you’re pretty much spot on. People are generally so freaking lonely and traumatised. I honestly enjoy other warmer culture more.

I'm glad I'm not missing out on much for Rent-a-Girlfriend after Season 1. The story had potential, but the creator squandered every opportunity for growing the story. If Japanese Divorce Laws work the same way as America's, then it will be hilarious if Reiji Miyajima's wife leaves him and takes most of the money he makes from Rent-a-Girlfriend.
