Sushi-Ko? Sushi-NO!
Season 3, Episode 12
Gordon is at Sushi Ko in California. Owner Akira was a successful sushi chef at someone else's restaurant so he and his wife Lisa decided to branch out on their own. The wife is really something. I feel like the restaurant was not his idea. I feel he was pushed to do it and now he is stuck. Her hammering into him expectation after expectation made him disassociate from everything. The kids...gosh the financial relationship...I cant imagine the pressure. I hope the family as a whole is in a better place now.

Some people wanting to be looked up to don't have what it takes to earn respect, so they try to tear others down to below their own level. Akira and his children deserve better. No victim of such emotional abuse deserves that.

This was such a shame. He was clearly a skilled and capable chef. Just struggled to find his place as an owner. Can criticize men for our egos, but a man that cant, or doesnt have pride in what hes doing, feels lost in purpose or worse, a failure, and is a broken man. Thats just the way it is. These men need comforting support and vote of confidence. Not constant criticism. Trust me they are their own critic and worse enemy.

I have to agree, a spouse should be supportive, only critical when it's actually necessary, but never forgets to tell their significant other what they do well and the areas where they succeed. I wouldn't support a man who reuses unclean chopsticks with old food and people's body fluids on them, for the customers to eat with.
Wife basically can’t handle her husband having more success than her. It’s really plain and simple from what we see here, assuming this isn’t edited for this reason. But really, it’s clear that she is hyper competitive to the point she’ll sink the entire family

😮mn no
Sushi Ko sells spoiled, unrefrigerated product and doesn't think the customers realize this. The owners don't think the customers taste the food is spoiled and tastes bad and suspect they will get sick from eating it. These places don't care what they do to their customers then they don't know why they have no customers.

The introductions are longer than the program.
You know it's footage like this and my lacking experience of sushi in general. Be it from well reviewed places or random offerings of a venue. Frozen or otherwise not fresh. A lot of people may not be aware, but frozen products in transit are allowed to be marked fresh. So when I'm not near a coast line within hours, fish anything is avoided. I think the critical mistake he made was moving from an area the restaurant was successful into another on the idea it will remain that way.
The samurai was nice though
