No joke, I get compliments on my makeup quite often, and I truly credit you, Lisa, as I’ve been a faithful watcher since 2011. I recently told my coworker that I spend most of my time blending and perfecting, rather than, to your point, piling things on. She said that sometimes she can’t tell what I’m wearing because the edges all are blurred together, and so I explained that blending is the key. A few days later she proudly showed me her eyeshadow application, which she said she spent ample time blending in. It really looked significantly better, and she was glowing, she was so happy! Thank you for being a true professional and reminding us that we don’t have to pile on 17 layers of product to achieve a beautiful face! ❤🎉

She does this because she is an actual artist. The same philosophy and technique works with fine art as well- you create dimension and images with erasers and scraping tools as much as you do with pencils or paintbrushes. Negative space is as important as the space that is filled, and this works for blending and depth in makeup as well. She's amazing! 🎨💄

Exactly, and that includes silence in music, or stillness in performing. [Edit] actually her first sentence by Coco Chanel is basically how I go about interpreting music. First I write on the sheet everything I feel like doing, and as I work the ideas into the piece, they become a lot more minimal and refined to really complement the piece rather than overpower it.

As I was watching the video, I thought, "Hey, I've been doing this for years! I must have good makeup instincts." And seeing your comment makes so much sense to me because I love drawing portraits and blending and shading is my FAVORITE part! haha. People always ask me how I create my drawings, and I tell them I erase a lot!
Oh Lisa!!! I'm 51 and for the last couple of years my makeup has never looked quite right, like I was wearing a mask even if I didn't use much makeup. I tried this 'hack' today and the difference is INCREDIBLE. My makeup now looks how I always hoped it would look but was never quite able to achieve. Everything just looks softer and seamless. It's incredible. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

I’m convinced Lisa’s got a Dorian Gray portrait in her attic. She never ages. I’ve been watching since 2010 and her techniques are an amazing blend of tried and true, yet always fresh, modern and innovative. It could only come from someone with a comprehensive knowledge and passion for their craft. Invaluable as always! Thank you for all the free knowledge! You’re such a blessing!

Yes! 100%! This is something I've realized as I've gotten 'wiser' (I'm over 55). Good prep, good moisture, light application, and good blending truly go a long way to accentuating my features in a kind way. Another tip I've learned is to mix moisturizer with foundation to sheer it out and add a dewey finish.

Absolutely agree - particularly when I observe American women wearing makeup, just too heavy and made up.
My glamourous nana always had a clean 2nd powder puff and brush to do exactly this, so as a little girl, sitting on the floor watching her, I absorbed this technique and have always done the same ... it really makes a massive difference .. I even keep a small set of 2/3 clean brushes in my car so that when I see myself in the rear-view mirror I can correct quickly thrown on make-up especially around jawline/neck (tide-lines my nana called them!!), I am LOVING your new skin-tint BTW, it is fantastic .. I even use a small amount as concealer when using your foundation because it doesn't crease and blends beautifully!!!

I love this idea - going to pull out my unused brushes to see which ones will do this job! My tip: When I’m all done with my makeup I always crumple a tissue into a ball and ever so lightly tap around my face - it picks up makeup that may be just sitting atop the skin as well as doing a final tap-buff - it’s also great throughout the day just on the parts of the face that may get shiny
@sannahbouzeghoub3871
28 күн бұрын
I do the tissue thing too haha - sometimes my fingers suffice!
That green sweater is beautiful on you!
Blending but also not excessive amounts of makeup! I can’t believe when I see tutorials how much foundation and concealer they pack on. Usually the skin is good but there is the idea of baking for the day. It’s the Bobbi Brown WTF phenomenon, more experience with make up means you know how much you actually need to use
@crispmorning

Exactly. I agree 💯%. The older I get, the more I realize that less makeup (especially complexion products) is actually the golden rule. You look even better.

Lisa, I've been watching you since your first video on KZread. I used to be obsessed with tutorials. The main difference I've always noticed between and the rest is how light handed you are with makeup. You are the epitome of perfection and I keep learning so much from you. You use makeup to enhance beauty, not to "look at me, I've got a face full of makeup". Thank you!
Yes. This IS essential for a seamless looking makeup.Thanks for reiterating this technique to us. Sometimes we need that reminder, Lisa.
Lisa, your skin is absolutely flawless, it’s like glass. Beautiful.
Holy crap, I DO know what I'm doing! Post application buffing used to drive my instructor insane but I always liked the way it looked, which is seamless. Thank you for the validation. ❤
Omg so lovely! This is why your makeup looks are timeless and soooo flattering. Great tip, especially for us mature ladies. Thank you Lisa!😘
I adore this tip - it really is something a true artist would do, like a way of achieving texture with oil paint or subtlety of wash with watercolour. That's what I love most about your videos - your depth of knowledge and how you make your techniques accessible to others. Thankyou xx

I clicked on this video so fast to learn a coveted Lisa tip and instead I was validated that my clean brush technique I've been doing for years make a huge difference! I've even had a young college girl ask me how I blended out my blush because it was so natural and I told her about using a clean brush to blend out the edges and soften it up. I started using a clean brush after my base many years ago because I wanted to to smooth it out and absorb some of the moisture before applying my powder products! Thank you Lisa for all the wonderful tips. Edit to add that I commented this before I finished the video and I love how you address us finger appliers! I myself love using my fingers and yes it makes a big difference :)

Brilliant, Lisa! I adore your “tips”. I am 75 and don’t even use foundation unless I’m am doing a full on evening look and still then, very light cover. I use a fine tip brush to apply to age spots on my face and even then just apply and blend. I have been using a “Stands Out” beauty sponge to soften my make up. But using a clean brush would be the perfect tool. Thank you always! ♥️

I love that Sigma high cheek highlighter brush, it's useful for so much! Real Techniques brushes are inexpensive enough to have multiples on hand for blending/finalizing. The elf Ultimate Blending brush is good too. Finally, a shout-out to the good old-fashioned Fuller Brush Company. Not a high-glamour name, but their makeup brushes are very good, reasonably-priced, and have smooth wooden handles that are delightful to hold.
