There have been more times on the water when changing the sound of my bait made a bigger difference than change my lure or the color of my lure.
Bass can really get conditioned to noise and vibration. A lot of times in silent conditions, it is really best to stick with lures that don't have as much noise in order to get more bites.
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

Heard of guys drilling a small diameter hole in top water baits/cranks and injecting a little super glue to silence rattles

When you have a white spook sitting on the water it looks like a dying white perch and the smallmouth absolutely love it

I sure wish this video was uploaded a couple of days ago. I just experienced fish not committing to knocking top water baits in my regionals bfl tournament on Murray. Thanks for sharing this 🎣

I have a silent Sammy, and I've never seen another one.. not saying that they don't have thousands and millions of them out there because I'm pretty sure they do, but like I said I've never seen another one. I actually bought it at a garage sale years ago just driving home and seen a boat in a driveway with a big yard sale going on with rods and reels and all kinds of fishing gear laid out across the boat for sale, I spent like $50 that day and bought a bunch of Baits and a reel.. an that Sammy was one of the Baits that I bought.. I put it in my top water box and completely forgot about it, and one day we were on Guntersville throwing top water around a causeway and literally it was just like everything you're describing right now, I reached in my box to change baits to try to find something that they would commit to and I put that silent Sammy on.. they crushed it!! I actually caught my PB at the time that day on that silent topwater Sammy... This was a few years ago and I have beaten that PB since.. but it just made me remember that day listening to you talk about that silent topwater!!

Thanks Tyler. Top water can be complicated during the day over a 2-3 day tournament it can change 10×. Unless the water is really clear I focus on morning top water for me it is easier to find the pattern.

Very interesting, I live in the UK and lure-fish for European seabass in my local harbour, different though related fish and very similar style, I bet this logic you've presented here works for me. Gonna check it out, this time of year there are decent bass in the coastal waters over here but the season is gonna close next month so I better get out there!!

Just fished all day this past Friday. Calm no wind and sunny didn’t get a bite because all of my baits were loud. Plus I’m just now getting into bass fishing. Great info will use next time.

This technique works so well when I fish a damn near my house and the water is running if you take a bomb cast and let the white spook drift it looks like the dead white Perch and I’ve caught small mouth up to 4 pounds

That's a good point but that also transfers over to crankbaits. Clear water is really the common denominator along with light.

Great war story! Just reiterates that sometimes bass get acclimated to the rattle, and so have to switch to a silent bait.

Same thing happened to me on a 5xd. Casted and backlashed it, then a smallie just killed it. Sometimes I think fish don't like if another fish profile bait is in their feeding area.

Great video Ty. I'm a day late and a dollar short on the info. Might explain why the smallies weren't as aggressive. Morning started at 8am dead calm until after 10am with only 2 topwater hookups on a Chug Bug. I looked at both of my walking style baits when swapping crankbaits too. Sounds like I should have listened to my Spidey sense...

I do this with almost everything especially square bills but I've never tried a silent spook. I'm going to have to try one because I can't get any hits on spook's, I get most my top waters bites on poppers and crappie sized poppers on an light setup

Those evergreen JT's. Aren't those a little bit harder to walk? I may be confusing it with a different evergreen top water, but don't you have to give those a pretty good chug of the rod tip to get them to walk?

Sometimes when I fish freshwater I let the bait sit on the top until the water stops rippling. In salt I usually just start reeling
