I never thought it was hard to make; I just didn’t think it was worth it. Broth and eggs. But I like that she put chicken and corn in it. I think I’ll be making it as soon as I get some chicken thighs which are on sale! And I bought 2 dozen eggs (on sale, lol) which will take me forever to use up. So I think I’ll be making this often! Flo, may I make a SAFETY suggestion from a friend? I had carpel tunnel syndrome in my wrists that caused damage to the nerves in my hands and surgery to repair. My hand doctor told me to never, ever smash garlics or anything else with the butt of my hand as you do in this video, because the carpel nerve goes thru the wrist bones right there. Repeated blows can damage the nerve and result with you ending up with hand problems. He suggested balling up my fist, and using the outside fatty, pudgy part of my fist on the knife instead of using the butt of my hand. That protects the carpel tunnel nerve, but still does the trick for smashing stuff. Love this recipe! Thank you! Happy cooking!
Flo and Dude, the sound of your chopsticks beating the eggs reminds me so much of my mom's cooking in the kitchen of yesteryear. My dad and us kids would wait in anticipation for delicious food coming from my mom's kitchen. My dad is gone now and my mom can't cook anymore. Anyhow, certain sound does strike a chord in the memories that I filed away. Last but not least, thank you for your effort in sharing recipes yhat are yummy yet doable.

Girl. Your recipe has won my husband over! I made this tonight, with a few tweaks...simple things like some kosher salt, extra pepper, extra aminos, extra sesame oil. Even my 11-year old gave rave reviews on this! Now, his Asian-flavor-loving self has asked for orange chicken next! But I need your help! I am so new to making Asian foods but love my husband so I want to learn! I've not searched your channel yet so hopefully you have an orange chicken recipe here but in case you don't, I wanted to request it

Corn starch is your friend. Coat chicken in corn starch. For Asian sauces I’ve had luck by: Hearing some cooking oil with spices to get the sauce started. Just need to find a good sauce recipe, with some practice you get the right flavor and texture

@@xman666soad I used to eat a lot of Asian food. I used to put the portable stove on top of an empty fish tank and eat Vietnamese steamboat in my living room. Yes corn starch is good, you can also use plain flour. But corn starch is probably nicer. You can dust chicken, prawns, squid and anything you can think of.

Very well Done to you.
Your recipe looks amazing. But sometimes I'm in a hurry... My shortcut: Boil up some ramen noodles (add amount of water per instructions packaging). When noodles are almost cooked (to your taste), reduce heat to a simmer an stir in two raw eggs. Let the eggs cook for at least one minute. Want corn or chicken or anything else in there? Your option. Recommendation: Add some ginger powder, Chinese 5-spice, one teaspoon soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil. A little black pepper is also nice. Total prep and cooking time: 5 to 7 minutes, with minimal cleanup needed.
@andersonomo597

Do you use the ramen packs with the sachets inside? I do a similar quick meal but I've started using ramen noodles that come in a big pack, no flavorings, just the noodles (Korean brands are good). They're WAY cheaper per serve than the single serve packs and since I'm adding my own flavor bits to my taste I don't need the rest of the stuff.

I like the yolk runny, ewe, sounds not so tasty when I say it lol, but I assure you it is. also I like a bit of sambal hot chili sauce on the side of my soup. gotta keep an eye on that tho. and for a meal I fry up a Porkchop or 2 in the pot to start.

Homemade cooking is the best! Brings back beautiful memories of mom and dad preparing delicious food on a budget with fresh products. Fridays were grocery shopping day and the only time we were allowed to have Swanson frozen dinners.
My family lives on soup - between busy schedules that have different family members working different shifts, the traditional sit down dinner is a rarity in our house. That being said, a hot, fresh, nutritious and hearty homemade soup feeds everyone, including their souls. It’s ultimate the “love from mom”. I know this is going into our soup rotation!

Just here to echo what so many have said. Made this tonight exactly as you demonstrated, (just added a pinch of sugar), and it was so incredibly delicious. I like a kick so I added a bit of chopped jalapeño to mine. I almost didn’t use the ginger because I’m not a huge fan but using it the way you did adds the perfect amount of flavor. Simple, hearty. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! As a youngster my first taste of crab and corn soup was at a local restaurant, noted for its Chinese cousine, available only in the air-conditioned section. It contained shredded crab and egg stirred into it, thickned with corn starch, and nothing else. The table was layed out with chilli sauce, soya sauce and chillies in vinegar, all of which I liked and used according to my preference. They did not contain sugar and the soya sauce tasted like bitter wine (brewed). The sauces available today at restaurants and shops are all too sweet! Seeing that I was so pleased, the host called for the cook on duty that day and I noticed that he was not Chinese! The egg and shredded crab looked almost the same in the lowered restaurant lighting!
I made this soup last night and it was a hit, a real keeper. Thank you!!
