This Channel Has to Change. Here's Why.
Ғылым және технология
I'm gonna try and make a documentary (?) and I'm switching to part-time here on KZread. I'm going to be focusing this channel more on climate change, because I've realized that it matters more than anything. Every other issue I care about requires a habitable planet for it to even take place - and climate change is threatening that.
Maybe at some point I'll get into my thoughts on KZread a bit more, but I didn't want this to be a rant.
Lastly, thanks again to everyone who supported me on Patreon over the years! Now that I'm not trying to pull off big projects (and needing to contract videographers or buy equipment/materials), I won't be looking for funding to make it possible. So, no KZread ads, no sponsors, no merch, no patreon - just one guy trying to share science with a world that desperately needs it.
Thank you!

Repasting my earlier comment ~ Just be aware of if you are trying to convert the converted about the issue of climate change. I see that very often in these kind of things. Aim at the deniers in a sensible and compassionate way. They are so separated from the rest of us because of people insulting them which drives them to further ignore us and the truth. Remember who the real criminals are here... Good luck!

Ok... how do I go about this... Listen, there's too many things on my mind right now, so I'll do my best to be concise and make sense. First off, thank you from the bottom of my heart. In this video alone you made me experience true human connection with noblest, most urgent of causes, and with a person wholly aligned with that cause, that person being you. I also go through episodes of climate anxiety and anxiety regarding global apathy. Seeing that someone else goes through the same thing revitalizes me and gives me the strength to keep improving myself, for the sake of the environment I live in, and the world. I see you as a mentor and someone I hope to stand with side by side, as we (as in 'all of us') endeavour to make things better in whichever way we can. Seeing you redirect your mental (and other) recourses from KZread to climate-related action is bittersweet, since the student in me still yearns for the insight you offer, but the individual in me recognizes a soul on fire when he sees it. I might've overcooked it a bit but you get the point. Please, stay in touch with us. We can network, cooperate, and improve upon one another. You're not alone in this. None of us are.

Thanks Captain! We're in this together. I feel you. In all my researching so far, the most important thing is that we get people in power that have climate as their number 1 priority. Any climate plan includes a just transition for those working in industries that will become obsolete, and a general shrinking of the vast economic disparity we have on this planet. We need to VOTE for those climate champions, but also help campaign for them. Also, we need to protest against bad actors and against oil, and we need people to make some lifestyle choices, but our climate needs votes the most.
Looking forward to whatever you have in mind

It looks like I'll have to follow you on Instagram as well. Kurtis, I hope the doco works out, cos we sure as hell need some saner heads amongst us to make people sit up and take note of the changes happening around us. It seems that having a leader who takes off on holidays to Hawaii is what we earned when he was voted back into power? But he leaves our country to continue to suffer through the worst drought we've ever experienced, whilst our firefighters are faced with multiple firestorms in EVERY state and territory, the like of which has NEVER been seen before in this country. I'd pack up and move, but where would I go? If you could knock some sense into our pollies here in Australia, or sort of take 'em by the hands and point out a few of the facts on climate warming, (you'd think a smack on the back of the head should be enough, wouldn't ya? But it's not), I'd be eternally grateful. See ya on the next video, Andrew

It is great that you are doing this. I lack information on what is the most influential thing I could do to contribute against climate change even though I really want to. If somebody made a video detailing a couple of factors that contribute the most and explained how to incorporate that in our daily routines, it would be great. (also, I find some of the tips for this problem to be centered around only middle-aged people, who have their own house and drive a car, for example. However, I am a student and many of those things do not apply for me, so considering a couple of life stages regarding climate change would make a lot of sense.)

Kurtis. I had an idea. I realise not everyone will have the same camera skills, but folks could upload samples of their filming to KZread and you could pick individuals to work with based on their skills and location. I think that utilising your community's reach and diverse skill set could make for an interesting angle to your documentary. You have a potential 161,000 production crew members who could help to varying degrees.

Since decades, scientist have been warning us about climate change. However, scientists are mainly good in science and warning people isn't their biggest strenght. That's why we need more people like you to bring those information to the public, and I think that doing a documentary is a step in the right direction. I mean, the most important thing of all is doing what you want to do, and if you consider it's better for you to do a documentary rather than youtube videos, then the final result will be more enjoyable and serve his purpose even better. You have my encouragements, you can do this and I'm hyped to see what you'll do!😁
My opinion and I've wanted to see someone do this for a while. Proposing an actual plan to fix climate change. What would that look like? What would we need to do? What would be the economical benefits of it, etc. For example would "advanced weathering" play a part and how close would that get us to the goal? Like, I don't think we need any more info really on what climate change is. I'd like to see plans on fixing this.

Geo-engineering is scary. We need: 1) Stop digging up fossil fuels. 2) Transition to a renewable economy, and leave no-one behind. 3) Dramatically slim the gap between the rich and everyone else. 4) Leave the fossil fuels where they are, seriously. Obviously, thats a shorter answer than I'd like to give. Heck, I could make a whole documentary about it...
@dodaexploda

@@ScopeofScience That's all well and good. But we might need to get to a zero emission economy or even a negative emission economy. I'm not sure that's capable without something like geo-engineering, or man made carbon sequestering.
