Summary for the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives PDF (linked to above): "This report concludes that the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project (TMX) is not needed to meet forecasted Canadian capacity needs. The author, J. David Hughes, also demonstrates that contrary to claims that bringing heavy oil to tidewater for export to Asia will fetch a higher price, it will likely instead sell at a loss of $4-$6 per barrel. "Arguments for TMX look even worse in the context of Canada’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 as TMX will exacerbate Canada’s emissions reduction problem by incentivizing additional oil production growth Hughes says, adding that as it stands Canada has no viable plan to even meet the Paris Agreement, let alone the federal government’s promise of net-zero emissions by 2050. "Hughes says the government’s claim that building TMX is necessary to provide funds to reduce emissions is not credible and that what Canada urgently needs instead is a viable energy strategy to meet both the future energy security needs of Canadians and its emissions reduction commitments."

Hey I’ve been looking into making a treehouse I have some questions 1) is there pros and cons to making a treehouse on 1 tree 2 or 3 trees if so what are they 2) I want to make my treehouse higher up off the ground like 15 -25 feet, the higher off the ground I go the more the tree shakes meaning what? Are my bolts screws nails wood and what not now more likely to shake is there a way to counter that, is doing the treehouse on 1 tree safer if my higher off the ground? Is there a height limit 3) I plan on building this in New Jersey the weather is strong winds snow and stuff dose that make a difference 4) what kind of wood screws and bolts should I use to insure safety and stability and if I plan on spending extra money to increase safety how much do you estimate it will cost 800? 1000? Much less much more??? Thank you!!!

Boating oil over the ocean. What are we doing to stop that? Trans mountain isn't a good idea in my opinion but energy east is. The maritime provinces and Quebec buy a lot of their oil from Saudi Arabia. Using oil until we can be off of it is what we'll have to do, but we can stop boating oil over the ocean from Canada super easily. Just cancel trans mountain and start up energy east. Or, unrealistically, stop oil immediately (not possible).

  • @ScopeofScience

Listen to the podcast. Link in the video description. The summary is that it will allow for oil production to increase, which will exacerbate climate change; it will destroy 1100km of habitat to build the pipeline in its place; and its extremely likely that there will be another spill that will poison water and ecosystems. Also it's dangerously flammable, and built in a place that experiences intense seasonal wildfires.

We have taken safety very seriously - it is extremely well secured. They are building scaffolding up to the treehouse at this moment, and I think that is a very safe way to take it apart. It is also a very expensive and time consuming endeavour. I am doing this work because I care about everyone on this planet - the lives of those workers and their children. The effects of climate change due to this pipeline are way more dangerous to way more people than this treehouse.
