Same problem with claw games. Usually the claw slips off, making you think it was close. I believe the claw rarely grabs strong enough to pick up anything.

Yes claw games are totally rigged,you can set the tension on the claws but most arcade owners always set it too light so it can't grab and hold anything.

I read somewhere that there are laws due to taxes etc on prices that the machined wont release prices before the market value of that item has been reached . Its hard for me to ecplain exactly but tey and look it up. In conclusion yes its rigged

Yeah, I only won once, and that was because the claw snagged on the toy's material!

I noticed this too when I would try this. I would always be one behind or one ahead. Had no evidence to suggest it was rigged, but this was so consistent for me it made me question if I was being scammed or not.

I used to work at an arcade with these exact machines. they are 100% rigged. we could set the machines to pay out after X amount was put through them and my manager used to play the machines when they were getting close to paying out because if he won it, it would save the store money. I used to know all the tricks to them as well, but can confirm ... 100% rigged.

Depends how you define fair. Equal odds for both parties? No. Fair in the sense that the risk is worth the reward? To some people.

I used to work in an arcade and had one of these things in it. Winning percentages are tracked weekly with the goal of paying out 25 percent in prizes of the revenue those games brought in. I had to track ticket payouts weekly and adjust. The older ones we had to adjust mechanically, but I loved these ones because it was just a matter of changing a setting on the logic board.

These machines used to have a glitch where you could hold the button down, unplug and plug it back in and it would spit out 150 tickets :) That was back in the 90's, i'm sure they've addressed that by now, but in my youth we definitely cleaned a few of these out....

As a former arcade tech (albeit 20 years ago) I can confirm Cyclone can be set to payout jackpots at variable intervals and also people would stand there with a cup of tokens and just keep plunking them in. Cyclone was one of our top 3 ticket games for my entire 2 years at the arcade and I'm not surprised it still exists to this day. For the record, MOST of our non-skill based (ie not skeeball or basketball) redemption games from that time period had ways of being set to payout jackpots variably.

Problem is, so far its been successfully argued that it isn't gambling due to the use of tokens, combined with the fact you don't win any money, only items from the front desk.

There was an older version of it where you could, in fact, play properly. I got so consistent about it i could drain the jackpot completely to where it was better to stop on NOT the jackpot. Then they updated to the rigged version.

moral of the story: if you own an arcade, kick mark out as soon as he walks in.

I used to be a manager of a pocket change (namco) and we had games like this that, as the manual states, had a jackpot setting, like he states. Cranes have difficulty settings as well. There’s all sort of sneaky stuff in those games.

There are 4 spots, does it only jackpot every 30 so times one each spot or overall? Like, if I get a jackpot, do I go to the next one or do I just wait it out 30 times. Also does it ever reset? Like if I show up the first of the day, or after x hours?

One time, my friend literally timed the button PERFECTLY and got a jackpot.

When I was using captions at the end when it has song on it started saying stuff like skillshare being the sponsor also it said he's a fan of kurxegast

I'm surprised that arcades aren't required to post odds of winning games. Casinos usually are. And I think that games like this, that APPEAR to be games of skill, but are ACTUALLY games of chance, should be illegal.

So gambling is illegal for kids to participate in, but arcade games that work on gambling principles are just fine??

Also trading card games, when I was a kid I used to open packs of Pokémon cards and the guy at the till would buy any rare cards for cash ... making them essentially scratch cards.

@@reaven2535 I will have to disagree with you on that. You don't win money in arcade games and Loot Boxes are more like raffle tickets.

I had come to the same conclusion about these (and similar games) years ago by using a highspeed camera and recording myself playing it over and over, only to examine the footage and find that there was no correlation to when I pushed the button vs. where the light would stop.

Yup.... I saw the light go past the jackpot when hitting the storm stopper and then go back to the preceding bulb before the jackpot .

And this my friends is what Casinos do on the daily. Unfortunately gamblers just don't get the memo. It's all designed to make profits while you go broke. I wish people would understand it's business and this is how they make their money.

Its not level if youre set up to win every time and hit the maximum amount of allowable jackpots though. Plus you cant cheat when its your own rules. People can not play it though.

Well there was an arcade in Genting where I could reliably get the jackpot around 8 times out of 10. It was a great ticket farm. Guess they forgot to rig it.

these games, claw machines etc all have a win or payout setting that can be set by the operator no different from 80's arcade games where you can set how hard it was via dip switches

I used to work with Chuck E Cheese. Our maintenance guy decided that he wanted to increase the number of jackpots for a day. It was an interesting day for sure.

@@aceman0000099 It was a long time ago. If i remember right, he also lowered the amount you won so it didn't get to out of control. But it didn't change much because no one with sense trusts the game and/or didn't want to play a game that only lasts for a second.

I worked as a carny , for a very short period of time. They let me go, and I was happy for that. I had to sleep at night . If you want to enjoy yourself at the State Fair , just sit at the _I Got It_ tent. Grab a beer and a sausage sandwich and get out of the sun or rain for awhile.

A carny is someone who works the booths, games etc at fairs . Games of chance, such as this, are very much rigged in favor of the owners of them at these fairs If you have a conscience , meaning sleep at night, you most likely will not do well as a carny. If you want to enjoy yourself, meaning not lose , then play a game called *I Got It* It's a game where someone will win each time. It's located on the midways, and generally under a tent with seats. Grab a beer and a sandwich , or whatever, and just sit back and enjoy. They let me go from my job as a carny , for I gave away a couple of the big prizes that are rigged . The big ones are rarely won. I was basically stealing money from 13 year old kids. It bothered me. So I gave a couple away. F**k Um

You've been to a fair most likely . You've played the games of chance most likely too. The thread here is, " I've was always bad at these games " . My comment sheds a very brief , in agreeance . along with personal experience , reason why LTazze was bad at these games. The reason being , *there're rigged* . I was a carny . I remember winning the jackpot at a local mall just to have the employee ruin my mood by telling me it wasnt skill but mere rigging
